My biggest fear just been realised with Patrick confirmed for the ride on Salvator Mundi. I give the horse next to no chance now and it’s obvious why he’s drifting. I don’t even have a cash out option either.
March 9, 2025 at 14:52 #1722279Cashed out Salvator Mundi the jockey booking has put me off.
March 9, 2025 at 16:25 #1722293I’m not often a favourite backer but I can’t see past Kopek Des Bordes here. I’m hoping he will get me, and many others, off to a good start.
March 9, 2025 at 20:07 #1722317I’ve already backed William Munny (before the end of last season) but added Karniquet today. Nearly fell at Christmas but a better run at the DRF. There was room to put quite a few horses between him and KdB that day, but he was held up and only put in the race late, presumably mark fishing for the Martin Pipe which didn’t go to plan as he ran too well and ended on 146.
Of course there’s a risk he’s going to be booted out in front so the two fancied Mullins hot heads can settle behind, but at the prices I’ll take my chance. Got a jockey upgrade too

Karniquet 40-1 ew
March 10, 2025 at 16:57 #1722412Mullins horses in a hood … One win in 33.. horrible stat , I’m just not keen esp at such a short price , I’m on Irancy e.w , there’s been some winners from his maiden and he couldn’t have done it any easier , can’t touch a HDB horse until I see the winners start coming in , I know a few aren’t keen on Patrick but Mundo know is to big a price to
March 10, 2025 at 17:33 #1722421I’ve backed William Munny for a bit of interest. Novice hurdles aren’t my bag at the best of times, but I don’t have a handle on any of these.

A small wager on Workahead 17/2.March 10, 2025 at 18:07 #1722431Funicula Funicula at 50/1 EW and Karbau at 33/1 EW both could represent a bit of value. Antepost I have William Munny at 16/1 EW and KDB at 11/4 WIN only, but for rather small stakes.
March 10, 2025 at 21:06 #1722462Tripoli Flyer is an animal who impressed me in the paddock before he won with his head in his chest at Musselburgh. Was challenged at Kempton but good enough to come clear of his rivals. Shouldn’t be 25/1 and worth an each-way punt at that price.
March 10, 2025 at 21:15 #1722463Do you think he’ll be as effective at Cheltenham, Rob?
I backed Tripoli Flyer at Kempton and was equally impressed.
I’d have been all over him on a right-handed track. Just have my doubts this way around. However, he doesn’t need to get much bigger for me to take a chance.I’d like to see connections go for the Punchestown Grade 1.
Value Is EverythingMarch 10, 2025 at 21:24 #1722464Tripoli Flyer handled Chepstow well enough on seasonal debut, when presumably a bit under cooked and Chepstow’s a left handed oddity. Possibly a bit of a ‘one-eyed’ selection but price was a real surprise here.
March 10, 2025 at 21:31 #1722466I don’t think that those shrewd Irish purchases won’t make any serious amends and also keep in mind that he bled from the nose last time at Kempton. Whatever that means….
March 10, 2025 at 22:09 #1722470Fergal O’Brien’s post race comment read:
‘To clarify, there was no significant bleeding and no respiratory distress.
As with all our horses, we’ll keep a very close eye on him and only run whenever we’re 100% happy.’
March 10, 2025 at 22:18 #1722476Thanks for clarifying that, Rob.
March 11, 2025 at 08:33 #1722515The two horses that seem way too big are Salvator Mundi and Funiculi Funicula, so they’re my picks.

So don't run, just like the others always do
March 11, 2025 at 08:52 #1722519Kopek Des Bordes for me.
March 11, 2025 at 10:06 #1722547I’ve went for two on the nose in Tripoli Flyer 25-1, and Salvator Mundi 16-1
