Rather think Loosen my Load will give Dunguib most to do at Chelt

Is that it? Guess he’s won already

Loosen My Load isn’t in the same league as Dunguib, Roddy, he isn’t even the one to take out of the race he ran in at Cheltenham (Secret Dancer did well to finish as close as he did with Christian Williams losing his irons after clouting the second-last).

At this point in time there is absolutely nothing that should be able to live with Dunguib.

And memories of Nick Dundee come flooding back…Gawd forbid!!!! He gets there he wins!

Think we should start a new thread. "How far will Dunguib win by"

Wasn’t the 1000 Guineas thread about who would finish second to Rainbow View?!

And I’ve already backed Dunguib

    Don’t start that thread!

Vino Griego runs today against Manyriverstocross. Hopefully we’ll see something emerge as an each way candidate fot the race. I’ve thrown a couple of quid on Vino at 50 on Betfair. Seems a decent prospect.

I’m waiting for Mr Mullins to unleash Rhyll Accord.

Won very easily just now. Could be the horse that shakes up Dunguib before Cheltenham?

He’s won easily, giving away plenty of weight to some, but the runner-up is a 101-rated, 21-race maiden.

Nice performance today at Newbury from Bellvano too.

Still think Lidar can shake this lot up.

I didn’t think it was particularly spectacular, Gareth, though I must admit I was far more interested in what Timmy Murphy was up to aboard Henry King. Approaching the three furlong pole he (Murphy) looked across, presumably saw Bellvano and the Lavelle horse travelling well and began to urge his mount along. Then, a few strides from the second-last he pulls, quite visibly, with just his right arm and the horse meets the hurdle at a ridiculous angle. The fall was inevitable. I’ve watched the race 8 or 9 times now and am mystified as to what he was doing.

Does anyone know if Henry King walked away relatively unscathed?

He did, albeit with Murphy yanking on the horses head every other stride. He’d get a smack from me for that!

    Thanks, rory, good to know.

I’ve just watched the closing stages for a tenth time and am as bemused as ever (though that’s nothing unusual). Henry King has run keenly for most of the race and shown a marked tendency to drop his head to the right. So much so, in fact, that Murphy was pulling with his left arm as they turned in to the straight.

As things have unfolded, Murphy has looked across at 3:50:25 to see Bellvano and Tocca Ferro travelling well and immediately asked Henry King to improve. At 3:50:30, still a significant distance from the penultimate hurdle, he stops urging and pulls down with his right arm (I’ve blown up a still of the video and his right arm forms a right angle, whilst his left is perfectly relaxed) bringing the horse’s head further right. A curious move given his previous corrective actions, but inexplicable when it means meeting a hurdle off-centre. Needless to say he belts the second-last and does a Cirque du Soleil number.

Crazy. Either that or my lack of riding experience is showing me up completely.

    Hi there.

Yes, i do think it was a bit strange to see Timmy Murphy taking a pull on the right rein, so close to the hurdle.

Henry King was hanging slightly left on the home straight, but then seemed to correct himself/get corrected, so he was travelling in a straight line. It wasn’t like the horse was going so fast at the hurdle that he needed a pull on the reins, it does seem a strange one.

As for Bellvano, they didnt go very fast today, and i think he would be better suited to a better pace, which he would get at Cheltenham over the minimum distance. Im not saying he will win the Supreme, but i thought he did well today.

Go back and look again and take your two buddies with you

Watch Timmy coming into the straight and how wide he comes, then notice how quickly the gap he has created between himself and the horse to his left closes as soon as they jump the 3rd last. They come very close together because Henry King is continuously going to his left.

Before the 2nd last they actually make contact, Timmy has a quick look and takes a little pull to straighten his horse up and put a gap between himself and the the horse next to him . He’s done the sensible thing to make sure he doesn’t come across the other horse and cause problems while jumping or after he lands.

Timmy then drops his hands in plenty time to allow the horse to find his own stride but the mad thing actually hasn’t got a clue and doesn’t even take of when asked.

He did a very similar thing at the 2nd last when beaten by PN’s horse the time before, cost him his chance but managed to stay on his feet.

Typical ignorant novice with a lot to learn and Timmy did very little if anything wrong IMO.

Bellvano is very highly regarded and I can see why. Very nice horse and while not to the same extent as Henry King he was still very very green . AP was going through the motions but wasn’t being hard on the horse. When he did give him a little slap he picked up like a real good horse.

His actual performance may not fully justify his current price as we don’t know what he’s beaten but he looks the part. I said in my diary he’d go right to the top and saw nothing there to change my mind.

I think we’ll find he’ll run at Kempton over Xmas, beat anything that’s put in front of him and cause further ripples in the market.

If anything is going to shake up Dunguib I think we just saw it.

The horse that’s going to give Dunguib most to think about ran at Thurles yesterday – Rhyl Accord.
