JRA preview of Kyoto race, QE II Cup:
http://japanracing.jp/_news2017/171107.htmlfirst of four races on successive Sundays comprising the 2017 Japan Autumn Internationals, third of which is Japan Cup:
http://japanracing.jp/en/horsemen/jai/November 10, 2017 at 20:08 #1326149I would be very much interested in the QEII if it wasn’t for the lack of in running comments on the RP. Ill check back again tomorrow. Plenty of information about the runners in the links above though
November 10, 2017 at 21:49 #1326172Moore and Atzeni licensed to ride in Japan from 11 Nov to 24 Dec:
http://japanracing.jp/_news2017/171109-02.html
Sat 11 Nov, Ryan starts with 6 rides at Tokyo while Andrea starts with 2 at Kyoto (maybe a bit in the shadow of Mirco Demuro):
November 11, 2017 at 09:37 #1326246Andrea off to a flyer: a 2nd for JPY 6m, and a 1st (in G3) for JPY 38m.
total winnings of GBP 294,000 is more than double on offer for an eight-timer today at Donny.
pays better today to be Mr Kyoto rather than Mr Doncaster.
Ryan a bit slower today – 4th, 3rd, 6th, 8th, 13th and 2nd yielding just under JPY 7m (GBP 46,000)
November 12, 2017 at 06:18 #1326427heading into the QE II in 20 mins, so far today:
Ryan has had a 3rd (JPY 2.8m), a 2nd (6.0m) and a 1st (10.0m). his Rouge Buck showing second fav 6.6.
Andrea yet to ride. his Tosen Victory showing 11th fav at 79.
but HKJC Japanese expert in no doubt about the 2.8 fav:
>> VIVLOS is arguably one of the best fillies in training at turf division in the world. I am sure WINX in Australia is much better
female athlete than VIVLOS and ENABLE in Europe is as well. So then, who else could be regarded as better female
thoroughbred than VIVLOS? Let’s go through the time tunnel back to March in Dubai, where the 4YO filly by DEEP IMPACT
was comfortable winner of the G1 Dubai Turf beating quality field.RIBCHESTER, third finisher in that race, who was beaten a length by VIVLOS there, had won three G1 Stakes subsequently,
including the Lockinge Stakes, the Queen Anne Stakes and the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, and is regarded as the best
older miler in Europe.ZARAK, the fourth finisher, would win the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, premier target for middle
distance older horses in France.MUTAKAYYEF, the fifth finisher, was runner-up to RIBCHESTER in the G1 Queen Anne
Stakes. And DECORATED KNIGHT, the sixth finisher, had won two G1 Stakes subsequently, including the Tattersalls Gold
Cup and Irish Champion Stakes, and is regarded as one of the best mile and quarter runners in Europe. The G1 Dubai Turf is the evidence which clarify VIVLOS is the horse with the same caliber as those big names in Europe.
And she has been trained beautifully since the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes on 14th October at Tokyo, which was her first start
since March and finished good second, and it is simple choice for me to select VIVLOS as my first pick for this race. <<November 12, 2017 at 06:55 #1326428none of the above showed.
winner was Mozu Katchan (Mirco Demuro).

2nd successive win in the race for the jockey – Could be the go to jockey for the race next year.
He’s won some big races in his time including the Japan Cup and the Dubai World Cup. Amazingly he re-located to Britain 5 years ago but that didn’t last long after he was suspended for riding a finish a circuit early at Wolves.
How come Yutaka Take didn’t have a ride wit? Can’t have happened too often, is he on the wane?
November 12, 2017 at 09:21 #1326440Hi Yeats,
yes, Mirco Demuro also won the big race last weekend on Suave Richard, and by prize-money is the leading jockey this season in the JRA (just ahead of Christophe Lemaire):
http://japanracing.jp/en/racing/news_media/jockey_rank/
Yutaka Take is still busy domestically – currently JRA fourth by prize-money. He posted most recently on his website that he was taking a rest this weekend to allow some knee-ligament damage time to cure:
http://www.yutaka-take.com/diary_column/
He is 48 now. His most recent “name” horses were probably A Shin Hikari and Kitasan Black in 2015 / 2016 (also Copano Rickey less-well-known-outside Japan), but not much as yet on his radar in that direction in 2017.
adding a 4th in the final race, Ryan won JPY 20m (GBP 133,000) today: no joy tho’ for Andrea.
November 16, 2017 at 11:24 #1326941racecards are now out for this weekend’s JRA racing:
http://japanracing.jp/en/racing/result/
as last week, Ryan is in Tokyo Saturday then goes to Kyoto Sunday to join Andrea in the second G1 of the Autumn series, The Mile Championship.
All the foreign entries have dropped out of this leg, so likely minimal betting interest outside Japan.
Interesting though to follow-up Yeats’ point on Yutaka Take:
The JRA preview of the Mile two days ago wrote of the leading chance Air Spinel:
” Expected to be in the saddle is Yutaka Take, who has ridden all but one of Air Spinel’s starts. It should also be noted that Take helped guide two others who had long struggled to capture a Grade 1 race to eventual victory in the Mile Championship – Sadamu Patek in 2012 and Tosen Ra in 2013. It’s a relatively tight rotation from the Fuji Stakes, but improvement is expected.”
http://japanracing.jp/_news2017/171114-03.html
However the racecard today shows the ride on Air Spinel has now been given to Ryan, with Take moving to the 3-y-o (albeit dual Stakes winner) Jo Strictly, whom the JRA preview chose not to mention. Not quite sure what is going on there, but Take writes in his web diary:
“injury is almost healed… but, in spite of my hard work to get back, I was informed of the change on Air Spinel. It seems to be Ryan Moore who is first choice after the trainer received a request. I must accept such things, but my mind is complicated of course. Fortunately, I picked up a ride on Jo Strictly, so I’d like to respond with my utmost ride.”
http://www.yutaka-take.com/diary_column/
but then Take seems to have chosen not to ride at all on Saturday and only ride two races on Sunday – the race immediately before the G1 and then the G1 itself – which seems kind of an admission that he is not fully recovered:
http://www.yutaka-take.com/schedule/race/
Big-race-consecutive-treble-seeker Mirco Demuro is on Persian Knight.
===
Sunday after this one is the Japan Cup, with four visitors: Boom Time from Australia, and Guignol and Iquitos from Germany are already settled in. Idaho from Ireland was due in this afternoon (it is now evening).Japan Cup build-up various links here:
http://japanracing.jp/_news2017/171116.html
at least with Ryan on Idaho, Take should not fear being displaced by him from last year’s winner Kitasan Black !
November 18, 2017 at 19:08 #1327497Saturday results:
Ryan – 3rd, 9th, 5th, 7th, 2nd for winnings of JPY 16.4m (GBP 110k)
Andrea – 5th, 11th, 3rd, 5th for winnings of JPY 6.7m (GBP 45k)Sunday, in the G1 Mile Championship, the three market leaders all around 5.0 are ridden by Ryan, Christophe Lemaire and Cristian Demuro, with Mirco Demuro on the fourth fav at 8.3. Andrea’s mount is 128 and Yutaka Take’s 82.
Kyoto 11R here:
http://japanracing.jp/en/racing/result/November 19, 2017 at 10:15 #1327565For the third week running, Mirco Demuro wins the JRA big race of the weekend, catching and beating Ryan a nose:
>>>>>>>
Fourth pick Persian Knight (Mirco Demuro) claimed this year’s Mile Championship to land his [ie Persian Knight’s] first G1 and second graded victory.Persian Knight broke sharply from the outermost stall and settled third from the rear while Maltese Apogee immediately rushed to the front to set the pace. As the field crowded in entering the lane, the dark bay colt threaded between horses and found space behind Air Spinel who had pulled away from the pack, chased the chestnut with a powerful late charge while dueling with Sungrazer and nailed the leader just before the wire for a photo-finish win.
Second pick Air Spinel (Ryan Moore) was rated around eighth from the front in midfield, surged out entering the lane to take command 200 meters out and further accelerated but was unable to fend off the strong challenge by Persian Knight before the wire to succumb to second.
<<<<<<<<<<
Andrea respectable sixth on 177 chance. Yutaka Take plumb last on 123 chance.

– Mirco to make it four weeks running ?

http://japanracing.jp/en/racing/result/
– Mirco has good chance of making it four weeks running on Satono Crown in Japan Cup.
– Take’s knee seems better – riding Kyoto Saturday and Tokyo Sunday.November 25, 2017 at 05:38 #1328441Ryan having a blinding Saturday at Tokyo so far – eight races run and he has won all five in which he has ridden, for JPY 35m.
