Fell at the 2nd last in the Edinburgh National. Fatally injured
February 6, 2021 at 16:26 #1521752I guess he suffered a heart attack. Hit the ground and wasn’t moving, Hughes just walked away realizing that the horse collapsed. 4m1f on heavy ground…..
May he rest in peace
February 6, 2021 at 16:48 #1521759Awful to see … wished he’d refused … never failed to finish before today … so sad …
February 6, 2021 at 17:05 #1521767Shocked to see poor Stay Humble collapse like that. Only consolation that it was quick.
Such a sad end for a young talented horse.
RIP Stay Humble ⚘Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 6, 2021 at 17:13 #1521768Just watched the race. Awful news. He was running a cracker.
Condolences to connections.

Ruby, I agree. Ed Chamberlain said he looked exhausted but I think he was booked to pop the last couple for second. I think it was a bit of a slight on the jockey to say that the horse was exhausted (with the implication that he should have been pulled up).
February 6, 2021 at 20:28 #1521811Don’t think that Hughes could have done much, but running a 4m1f race as the sixth race on the card especially when the going is heavy needs some rethinking.
Why not start the card with the long distance race in order to make it more competitive and ensure that more horses can complete?
Anyway, the ex-Mullins/Wylie horses don’t seem to have much luck in GB. The only exception being Yorkhills’ Reherseal Chase win.
February 6, 2021 at 20:41 #1521816Voix du Reve doing ok as well.
