..erican breed trumps Europe on speed but would the market let an American challenger go off at 20’s in Ascot sprint. Miling still requires an element of speed.

    Siyouni

Really muddling to read as the first 4 lines of pedigree are all speed yet it seemed to be doing it’s best work at the end in the French race before the French 2000. I don’t know the excuses for the French 2000 but although it beat Dick Turpin and Beethoven in France at 2, and I’ve found some stamina way back, I can’t fancy it on general profile at the prices.

    Hearts of Fire

All speed on first three lines and in that it stayed further then it’s bred to at 2 I can’t help but think it was an early developer.

I also think that before too long AOB will hand his son a big race win. Perhaps not today but at 100’s I’ve had a fun ‘kick myself if it wins’ bet. And Noble’s Promise.
If Makfi went 4s I’d have some of that too.

    Crikey Mr Wilson!

I’ll take a different tack and simply say congratulations to the winners and their outstanding horse.

Very unfair to be branding high class horses "dogs". :? You know what’s worse than someone who can’t take a beating? Someone who can’t win graciously.

Fantastic win by Canford Cliffs there. Proves what the Hannon’s have always thought of him,

A real shame that thorough gentleman Liam Cashman wasn’t still around to see this day. I spoke to him about shuttling Acclamation to the Sth Hem years ago but the Aussie clients shirked the issue. Their loss.

Congratulations to Rathbarry at their finest moment.

Hearts Of Fire went right with Canford Cliffs and Canford Cliffs needed Beethoven to slam the door on Hearts Of Fire to finally shake him off, think Hearts Of Fire is one to take out of that race and his Guineas run was all wrong.

Goldikova. Paco Boy. Canford Cliffs. Dick Turpin. Lope De Vega. Rip Van Winkle.

Can we have them all in the same race, please?

I had reservations about the track, but was thrilled to see him come home in that style. All those doubts about him not staying seem an eternity ago now.

Dick Turpin is a wonderful, tough horse and a useful yardstick. His efforts thus far and Lope De Vega’s subsequent win suugest there should not be too much to choose between Canford Cliffs and the french horse.

Makfi ran too bad to be true and Christophe Lemaire wasn’t too clever on Siyouni. Look for much improved efforts next time out.

Hearts Of Fire was most unlucky an as for Aidan O’Brien’s trio. I don’t think he will be quoting "Hannibal" Smith tonight!

Noble Prince carried the French pair across the track so they had no chance today. I dont blame Lemaire on Siyouni trying to get back across there, Fallons mount was veering very sharply.

Can’t say much really as the race ran exactly as expected…….horse is in a different county to that lot and was just a matter of when Hughsie was going to say go.

Can any of you experts tell me could they still enter him for the Eclipse? I get the impression despite his breeding he’d just about get the trip and it could be a very poor year…wasn’t Rip Van Winkle AP fav for it?

If Cliffs faced an in form Winkle at Sandown, Rip Van Winkle would tonk him, he will stay at 1m I would assume.
