I am really excited for this one on Friday. Stacked with some really good horses.
Every season i note down about 20 horses to watch over the year and 3 of them are appearing in this race…
From Dawn To Dusk
Midnight Chase
According To PeteSo i am really torn on this one.
Ontop of this we’re given such talent as Ouzbeck, Erics Charm, Calgary Bay, Ballyfitz, Ballycarney etc.
This is looking like a really difficult race to call, but man i am really excited for what i see as the first really open race of the new season. And only 3 of the entries are out of the handicap too, so we’re looking at something good here…

Midnight Chase
According To PeteAll of the three have the distance and course in their records but at the end of the day it’s all about the horses around them and how they match up against them.
From Dawn To Dusk appears to have the better chances in this one. He lines up with According To Pete when it comes to class 1 experience but seems to have done better in this class so a drop to class 2 should give him an edge.
October 14, 2010 at 19:26 #322416Filed has been cut to 10 with Midnight Chase still getting an entry.
I really like this one. Should be a good watch.
October 14, 2010 at 22:42 #322452Given the esteem he was held in, and the fact that this would be close to his perfect conditions, I can’t not back Calgary Bay at the price. Went well for a long way in the Gold Cup and his earlier hack round Doncaster off only 7lbs lower was impressive.
Hopefully he’ll realise the potential this year and give Hen something to smile about after what has to be said, have been a lean few years.

Pretty much the same as aphardy said. Calgary Bay won a simlar race last season and he’s up 5-7lbs but he won by about 7 lengths and is available at an each-way price (13/2).
I think it’s a value bet cause I think he’ll win.
October 15, 2010 at 17:01 #322551My beaute did me proud! Chuffed to see Midnight Chase run so wonderfully. There were times when i thought he wasn’t running fluently, but that was a really gutsy win.
I love it when an obscure selection comes up well for me

Well done mate, I had a reverse forecast with Calgary Bay (didn’t know he was said to need the run beforehand).
Calgary Bay looks like a national horse in my opinion.

You could argue he’s never fallen Phil but apart from the fact he baloons his fences which is totally unsuited to Aintree you can almost be guaranteed he’ll go straight through one at some point in a race.
Most horses would have been on the floor with the hash he made of the 2nd fence today. He gets away with it because he’s a big brute of a horse but I doubt if he’d jump round the National or even come close to getting the trip.
I doubt if it’s even crossed Hen’s mind to run him in a National.
