Very sad to post his name on this section of the forum. There would be too much to write about this consistent 2m legend and I’m quite sure there would have been a lot more to come.
Rest In Peace Special Tiara!
February 2, 2019 at 15:31 #1394870Oh no; I’d nodded off watching the racing this afternoon and thankfully didn’t see it. Wonderful horse. Terrible to see his name here.
February 2, 2019 at 15:39 #1394875This has broken my heart. One of my very favourite horses ever. Seems to have been so many deaths this year already but Special Tiara was just that to me – special. It’s been nice to know you all but this has done it for me with racing so this is my last post.
February 2, 2019 at 15:43 #1394877Terribly sad news
We also lost De Dollar Man earlier, afraid that’s taken all the shine off the brilliant racing today.Condolences to all connections of both these lovely boys.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 2, 2019 at 15:51 #1394878Really feel for you Bonanza.
We take these beautiful horses into our hearts and losing them hurts more than words can say
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 2, 2019 at 16:03 #1394884Very very sad to hear he didn’t make it.
February 2, 2019 at 17:22 #1394898I have removed that, but nevertheless Twitter is full of it. A lot of people who just come once or twice to the racetrack are pretty much upset about what happened behind the screens.
February 2, 2019 at 17:33 #1394899Thank you Ruby, it’s a reason I avoid Social Media , too many ready to post up photos and gather round a terribly sad scene.
Just thinking of Bonanza reading it who is already so upset by the loss of this horse and I also felt sick to my stomach when I clicked on your link.
This has been an extremely sad day.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 2, 2019 at 17:46 #1394904Dreadful day for the de Bromhead yard, having already lost Malinas Jack in the first race. Not surprising that he pulled Paloma Blue out of the next race. Sorry to lose Bonanza Boy from this forum but I can understand it. I felt sick after it myself.
February 2, 2019 at 17:49 #1394905Sorry to swear but WHAT A BLOODY SHAME ,
A real warrior so so sad
February 2, 2019 at 18:18 #1394907That is both very sad news Bonanzaboy. You are a person who really cares much about the well being of the horses and I dare to say that your absence will be this forum’s loss.
February 2, 2019 at 18:44 #1394908Fabulous horse – epitome of a top class 2-mile chaser, and a benchmark act for several seasons. Will never forget his QM day in the sun, alongside those annual appearances at Kempton over Christmas. He didn’t deserve that – the only consolation is that he was tanking along and enjoying himself, and he still had his ears pricked behind those screens.
Hard to read that link RL – I’m glad that you’ve removed it but that doesn’t erase it and incidents like this are hardly going to do racing any favours. Any horse deserves respect in these circumstances – as do the connections. It’s gutting enough when it happens, but to have to deal with that kind of memory. Well – appalled doesn’t come near it.
February 2, 2019 at 18:48 #1394909Totally sickened by today’s awful happenings – I won’t be watching any replays – Special Tiara was appropriately named … I can’t believe that this so special boy was fatally injured even before he jumped a fence today … and as for what I’ve briefly read elsewhere about his end I feel physically sick … heartbreaking day for his stable … many are so sad with you …

The incident isn’t really typical for a NH race, we all know that. Most injuries in jumps racing occur after horses jump an obstacle or start to get tired during a race which sometimes results in a (fatal) fall.
But, because it happened on a Saturday in front of a fully packed grandstand and not on a Thursday down the back straight at Tramore, racegoers react differently and are a lot more upset about a beautiful horse losing it’s life for no apparent reason. This is what makes his death so extremely hard to swallow for anyone.
Let’s not forget how much influence social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) already have in everyday life and where society is heading to. I don’t represent the Twitter generation nor do I think that people should be allowed to post anything they want to on it. But this is how society will work and interact in the future.February 2, 2019 at 23:31 #1394927Just gutted for everyone involved with the three horses that lost their lives today and for them as well, every horse is special in their own way.
Like you Jac, i have nothing to do with social media, ie, crapbook, twatter and RL has called it right, this is the way the world is now and that is extremely sad.
All comers, all ground, all beaten
February 3, 2019 at 00:48 #1394930So sorry about Special Tiara; one of my all-time favourites. Just short of top class, perhaps, but always went out guns blazing and always battled on like a warrior. Picked up some great prizes along the way, and should have been awarded a Tingle Creek.
