Problem the Labour Party has got is it’s no longer seen as the working class Party. More the middle classes who like to think they know what’s best for the working class… A Party who believe only they care about the unemployed, elderly and ill.
Indeed rather than it being the Labour Party at all, it’s seen as the Sanctimonious Self-Righteous Holier-than-thou Party.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 3, 2022 at 00:39 #1576308Agreed, Ginge.
But the reason why it is seen as such is because it is portrayed as such by a right-wing media owned by billionaires who do not want to see a Labour government in office.
January 3, 2022 at 00:51 #1576309LOL You’re living in a different age there Glad’.
BBC, Channel 4 and ITV lean to the left nowadays.
The Left wing has the Guardian, Mirror, Independent and much of the internet covered.Funny how it is only the left wing who can see through this right wing billionaires press and media.
…Seems no matter what the British people tell us in elections…
The Labour Party and the left always come up with “it’s the right wing press’s fault”.
How do you think that goes down with the voters?
Basically calling voters gullible and stupid.

Which proves that they are.I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJanuary 3, 2022 at 01:07 #1576311“The Left wing has the Guardian, Mirror, Independent and much of the internet covered.”
And the right has The Sun, Times, Telegraph, Mail, Express, etc.
The internet is 50-50, not dominated by the left. And the BBC is so left-leaning that the record number of appearances on Question Time is held by Nigel Farage.

“Basically calling voters gullible and stupid.”
The fact that so many people vote Conservative (or Republican in the US), when it is clearly not in their best interests to do so, kind of proves that they are. 🤷♂️
Unless voters actually believe that a load of millionaire Old Etonian Bullingdon boys have the working man’s interests as their number one priority.
January 3, 2022 at 01:32 #1576313There is no way that the BBC leans to the left! Ch4 (bless them) yes but the BBC News, never. Dramas do (eg Years and Years) but not the news. They bury anything anti government that they can and rarely question government ministers. The prime example of this being Kuensberg.
January 3, 2022 at 01:44 #1576314The BBC is always biased against the beliefs of the person who is telling us it’s biased. As for the Internet, anyone can publish what they like (within reason), it’s not dominated one way or the other. If you honestly don’t think there’s plenty of right wing content out there you really aren’t looking.
Most people actually vote against the Tories (over 56% last time) but thanks to our joke of a voting system they have an 80 seat majority. The Lib Dems got 3.7 million votes and 11 seats, the SNP a third of this total and 48 seats. The SNP only got 400,000 more votes than the Greens who only get one seat
Labour is actually about fairly represented with 32% of the votes and 31% of the seats.January 3, 2022 at 01:51 #1576315the BBC is so left-leaning that the record number of appearances on Question Time is held by Nigel Farage.
I didn’t know this!
You wouldn’t be pulling my leg would you?I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJanuary 3, 2022 at 01:54 #1576316“… our joke of a voting system”
Couldn’t agree more, Richard. If we want to have real democracy, the first thing that needs to change is the anachronistic first past the post system. Only one other European country still uses FPTP- that renowned bastion of democracy, Belarus.
Purwell- having researched further, that article I posted above was factually incorrect. Farage is fourth on the all-time list.
Even so, the disproportionate amount of time that idiot received both before and after the Brexit referendum is shocking.
January 3, 2022 at 02:06 #1576317Wonder why he’s been quiet recently?
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJanuary 3, 2022 at 02:11 #1576318Not to mention all of the pro leave plants in the QT audience. As a wet Liberal sort of person a lot of my friends tried to get into the QT audience but never succeeded.
January 3, 2022 at 03:48 #1576319“Pro leave plants?”
As it happens the majority voted leave but of course the bbc mustn’t have them represented ?
January 3, 2022 at 03:51 #1576320Ginger is spot on about the media
January 3, 2022 at 03:54 #1576321And I would bet the totally discredited chakerabati appeared as many if not more times than Farage on qt
January 3, 2022 at 04:05 #1576322I can’t stand Farage but why dint people check facts before posting
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Question_Time_episodes
Also worth noting the political stances of all those that have appeared more times than farage???
January 3, 2022 at 04:08 #1576323Again the arrogant moronic left’s attitude that voters dont know what their voting for
From someone who thinks that government spending shouldn’t be accounted for
Doesn’t occur to them that voters turned against corbyn because he was the lesser of two bad choices? If that’s the sort of candidate the left put up with his small brain and cabinet riddled with the likes of dawn butler as well as his sinister views and astonishing response to Salisbury what do they expect
Labour are going to take ages to get over the fact that they had a retarded leader who would never condemn those who blew their kids to small pieces if caught in a bomb that went off in a birmingham pub
And every time that creep owen jones appears on the media tfats another 200000 votes out the door
and the list goes on
January 3, 2022 at 07:24 #1576324“And every time that creep owen jones appears on the media tfats another 200000 votes out the door”
At least you recognise that the media does play a role in shaping public perception.
It’s a start, I suppose.
