Great interview Pinza and good reading for his detractors. Modest, self-deprecating, frank, funny and honest. I’ll stop there before it gets too fawning!

I’m not having a go at WFTW, I respect his views on the merits/demerits of the honours system and its many flaws and his right to air them, so I created somewhere that the subject can be discussed by those who are interested (and where he and Pinza can exchange their jibes and counter-jibes ad infinitum).
This would leave this thread free for TRF members to express their delight at Sir Henry Cecil’s knighthood. A thread I’m sure the majority of TRF members don’t want to see descend into yet another minor squabble.
A three cheers for Sir Henry thread, if you like.
(And if you don’t want to cheer then you don’t have to).
June 12, 2011 at 11:09 #360249Henry Cecil is a gentleman in every respect. A modest man – and in spite of his "toff" background, it is his self deprecating and understated manner which endears him to mere plebians like myself.
Far be it for me to cast aspersions, but one thing is quite certain; Sir Henry’s ego (coupled with any sense of self importance ) will never be on a scale with some of those who have contributed to this thread.

I have taken the time to completely re read the thread and there is absolutely no content from anyone that exhibits any sense of self importance whatsoever so may I respectfully ask what on earth are you posting about?
If some people in this forum set themselves a rule of sharing their point of view without resorting to abusing other posters and thier views then we’d all be a lot better off.
June 12, 2011 at 23:54 #360401A great man and inspiration to me personally.
Stoute on the other hand, less said the better.

Long overdue recognition for the greatest Flat trainer of the (now extensive) post-war period. Congratulations, Sir Henry!
By the way, was I alone in spilling my tea with laughter all over yesterday’s RP when Pat Eddery put Henry up there with both Vincent
and
Aidan O’Brien?
