Oh dear what a calamity.
Racing shoots itself in the foot again.
Red hot favourite apparently very experienced jockey remarkably cannot take a blindfold off.Left in stalls, punters do their money
Yes Godolphin again.
Another disgrace.
BHA should start a slogan "Come racing and lose your money without even getting a run" and then nothing (probably) will happen to the jockey and all the good and great will say its just one of those things (again)July 26, 2013 at 19:08 #446561I’ve thought for a while that Jockey’s have started to leave it later and later to take the blindfold off.
Getting to stage where they are trying to take the blinds off whilst the gates open.
Was only a matter of time until something like this happened.
July 27, 2013 at 09:42 #446629As blindfolds are not required to be removed prior to the stalls opening, events such as this will occur from time to time.
Compare what occurred here though to the first race at Newmarket last night where a stall handler swiftly and efficiently removed the blind fold from hot fav Sureness as the stalls opened, this could have been a significant factor in the horse’s success.
This isn’t the first time a stall handler has removed a blindfold as the stalls open and it’s an absolute disgrace the BHA allow it to happen, if connections want the late removal of a blindfold it should be solely down to the jockey.
How much better chance would Albasharah and De Sousa had if a stall handler had removed her blindfold?
July 29, 2013 at 15:55 #446817Not sure what he was doing in the 4.45 @ Whampton, on the well backed fave (9/4 to 11/8) , seemed to get out the stalls fine yet then ended up 6 or 7 lengths behind the field.
The race was 1m 5fs so plenty of time to recover, ended up finishing 2nd beaten a neck. Very frustrating.
