“Quite Chezza,
But she was born a princess.
You just happen to be one.”Good point, well made, Sam – though the day the world actually starts treating Chezza like a princess it will become more relevant, sir!
“surely it starts at the top. If he’s doing this to his own kith and kin how many of the female populace of his own country are suffering in one form or another.”
That’s very fair comment, WWL.
I guess my point is that we live in a world where, from females here in the UK doing the same job as male colleagues for lower pay, through to the tens of millions upon tens of millions of females worldwide suffering economic, cultural and religious discrimination or even outright oppression, the utterly disproportionate media coverage of this lady’s plight grates somewhat with anyone who, like me, is an egalitarian at heart.
Of course, I sympathise with the lady – but there are so very many cases worthy of so much more sympathy on which the media spotlight never falls.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"May 16, 2023 at 16:21 #1648013I think there is some difference between being born into it and marrying into it. Nobody chooses to be born into royalty and escaping is damn near impossible if you decide it’s not for you.
If however you make the conscious choice to become part of any one of the royal circuses around the globe then it’s a somewhat different matter. It’s not like nobody told you what it’s like. You could not convince me to become part of any royal family for love nor money (which I assume are the only two reasons you’d do it).
I would agree that whether by birth or marriage, we shouldn’t be putting one person’s problems up on a pedestal over those of millions of ordinary people and I would hope that those with a platform to be able to do so can do something to help.

VERY fair comment, IMO, and I wouldn’t dispute that.

May 16, 2023 at 19:52 #1648031True, and that doesn’t just apply to high-profile princesses – guess that’s my point.

May 16, 2023 at 20:27 #1648038Definitely – no argument there, but it highlights a far wider malaise than the individual case study and I think that’s the important thing to keep in proportion and get across and I don’t often see the mainstream media doing that.

Simon will not take the call possibly – but he will remember it and certainly it will make him think.
As Latifa might say – there must be 50 ways to lose your papa mojo.May 19, 2023 at 01:40 #1648296Just imagine I was in need of an immigration lawyer. I can’t think John Cleese’s fish called the Caribbean island of tax free Nevis would need one – but just imagine I consulted yellow pages for such – just like Latifa. The name Paul Simon sticks out a mile. Two christian names beats Mohammed ten times and gamble’s🍷thinking of fifty ways to avoid the taxman ever since Brexit stuffed him into an uncomfortable corner. Always hope dope – find a new plan Stan !
I live in UK !
May 19, 2023 at 02:16 #1648297Forget all that – let’s get Joe’s thread back into some sort of order.
Fact is Princess Latifa is no longer wanting to be rescued and has no desire to rescue herself. She is not sticking to the narrative and is resigned more than ever to a life in a gilded cage. I too have to settle for second best like so many UK residents – we’re all looking for a way out but my dark glasses can’t find anything but a one way ticket to Palookaville and with refuse collections constantly being changed – we are all literally in the shite.
Davies is right we have to rescue the unfortunates – not just the Princesses. That may or may not include me.

I was hoping to highlight how the whole world, not just racing, allows the ultra rich to pretty much do as they please. In fact, they sometimes assist them in lawbreaking.
May 20, 2023 at 09:34 #1648474Your desire’s and wishes Joe are bang opposite to those when you unburied Red Rum – Red Rum backwards is murder and while murder may have been exposed within this fascinating tale – it is far from proven – but what is glaring it’s ugly teeth at us is tight parental control and apron strings that cover a nation in a world and culture that is successfully hanging on to it’s male dominating past and by virtue of it’s excessive wealth and influence.
The other thing of note is I have my reputation to defend as one of the three highwaymen of old that brought mayhem and disorder to Daylight’s family days out to the racecourse by taking threads by their necks and squeezing the lifeblood out of them until they screamed LET ME DOWN and UNFAIR. Pewter stood up and called us out in a speech of defining brilliance that led me to a confessional box as he stuck his finger up in defiance and left home with his spotted handkerchief. The highjacker Balance suffered a brain tumor and spent his last year quietly with his family.
I was to have written about Pegasus and high end mobile phones – but suddenly have an order to make two poached eggs and putting apron strings on seems more important right now.
Toodle pipMay 20, 2023 at 10:54 #1648485I used to poach rabbits.
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysMay 20, 2023 at 11:12 #1648489I haven’t had rabbit since I was six and I can still remember the taste.
I’m not saying she wasn’t oppressed, but she made good her escape by skipping a paragliding lesson or suchlike. Yes even if it is gilded you can still be a caged canary.May 20, 2023 at 12:30 #1648498Ol’Sam wrote

I’m not saying she wasn’t oppressed, but she made good her escape by skipping a paragliding lesson or suchlike. ”That’s a pretty nimble rabbit Sam and just wondering if you aren’t mixing up your animal species. You were more likely referring to a Wabbit, and such creatures were bred in research labs back in the day, and had superior strength, and loved to free fall from a great height.
As for Purwell poaching rabbits I saw a good film about that called Bunny Boiler II where the lady who cooked it …well I won’t spoil the ending but I did change my kitchen furniture around after watching the filmPrincess Latifa isn’t free but she has a lot she wants in her confinement. The Blob leads a free life – he can come and go as he pleases and has a back garden which constitutes a small healthy green patch about 14 foot by 20 and nicely fenced in. The back garden the restricted Princess occasionally stretches out in is a country mile bigger. I could put up with the eight staring eyes for that.
People say they are free but is that really the case ? At this present moment I am sitting relaxing in the sun drinking a nice coffee whose beans were collected by pickers in Peru who probably lead a life of some drudgery and who are governed by two hands of a clock – They call it work and it’s something I have cleverly avoided for most of my adult life. Some would say I am the lucky one rarely having used an alarm clock but then again the little work I have done I have thoroughly enjoyed – so maybe people with callouses on their hands are the most content?
