Died after a gelding op (was firing blanks at stud).
Would have probably won a Gold Cup or two had Yeats not been around.
December 10, 2010 at 21:31 #331984That must be quite a rare occurrence. Quite a few high profile Northern Dancer line horses seem to have been infertile.
Very sad he had to die in this way.December 12, 2010 at 14:34 #332302This is awful news.
Septimus was one of my favourite horses, not really a massive flat racing fan, but i absolutely loved this horse.
RIP Septimus.

I remember Septimus fondly, it was his win in the Doncaster Cup that drew me into Racing and I can remember sitting in the bookmakers packed with people cheering thinking wow this is amazing.
RIP Septimus.
December 13, 2010 at 19:44 #332483Has anyone any more information about what caused his death? Infection, haemorrage etc.
December 14, 2010 at 16:27 #332589Very sad
December 15, 2010 at 17:08 #332739A Horse i would have given my Arm to own.
Just a beautiful horse that was a superb stayer. Would have won a Gold Cup if Yeats wasnt in the same yard.
Could have made a smashing Hurdler
especially since he comes from a Sadler’s Wells - AuthorPosts
