Died after a gelding op (was firing blanks at stud).

Would have probably won a Gold Cup or two had Yeats not been around.

That must be quite a rare occurrence. Quite a few high profile Northern Dancer line horses seem to have been infertile.
Very sad he had to die in this way.

    This is awful news.

Septimus was one of my favourite horses, not really a massive flat racing fan, but i absolutely loved this horse.

    RIP Septimus.

I remember Septimus fondly, it was his win in the Doncaster Cup that drew me into Racing and I can remember sitting in the bookmakers packed with people cheering thinking wow this is amazing.

    RIP Septimus.

Has anyone any more information about what caused his death? Infection, haemorrage etc.

A Horse i would have given my Arm to own.

Just a beautiful horse that was a superb stayer. Would have won a Gold Cup if Yeats wasnt in the same yard.

Could have made a smashing Hurdler  especially since he comes from a Sadler’s Wells
