The Senior Open starts at Carnoustie on Thursday. I always like a bet in this event because much of the field is dead wood.
Six against the field:
P Harrington 9/2
YE Yang 20/1
A Cejka 25/1
A Cabrera 33/1
D Clarke 33/1
C Campbell 150/1Harrington, Clarke and Cejka all made the cut at Royal Troon.
Harrington is a short price but I think the 9/2 with Hills is fair. He is a worthy favourite and I was expecting him to be around the 3/1 mark.
Cejka is defending champion. I think the 25/1 with Hills is very fair.
I have no idea what shape Chad Campbell’s game is in nowadays but I am prepared to find out at 150/1. I remember him bursting onto the scene as a young player, so it makes me feel a bit old to think he is now a senior!

On the betting front: Harrington, Cabrera and Clarke are all in with a chance. Even Cejka is not entirely out of it with a good round.
July 27, 2024 at 17:25 #1702967I hope you had a good day and that the weather was less Scottish than it has been in Paris all day.
How are the prices? I am guessing easier on the wallet than the main tour.
July 27, 2024 at 19:19 #1702988Thanks Richard, yes it was an enjoyable day. A pity my players did not give me much to cheer but Cabrera finished strongly and is only 5 behind thanks to Choi stumbling a bit on the back nine.
A day ticket costs £40, about a third of the price you have to pay for the Open. None of the top players are competing but at least walking around the course is far easier.
