    Hi folks,

I hope this is the right section to ask in.
I have a pair of Grand National (Saturday – Festival Zone (Tattersalls)) tickets but unfortunately can’t make it.

Looking to try recoup some of the cost and pass on a bit of a bargain to somebody else, but I don’t know where I should list them. Any advice?

Can’t you return them to the racecourse for a refund?

Looks like Festival Zone tickets for Saturday are £80 and Chezza – too lazy to look further for any refund policy.

Chezza would burn £65 in fuel driving to Aintree and back from his Hampshire fastness, so he is grateful for the discovery that, when he wakes up on Grand National Day morning next April he’ll evidently already be £145 up on the day before he gets out of bed and watches the coverage at home.

Maybe someone who resides closer to the track – and isn’t as legendarily tight (£145 is a lot of chocolate hob nobs) with money as Chezza – might be interested?

Wasn’t aware that there was a refund policy (there is). Just 75% of ticket price but I’ll take it.

    Thanks all.

It’s the Mike thing to do – he loves a cash out.

Glad you haven’t done too much damage.

You’ll save the other £20 back by not paying Aintree racecourse prices for food and drink that day – throw in travel cost savings and you’re in profit!

It would have been a first for me, maybe even a once off as I’ve never been and am across the Irish Sea so I wouldn’t have minded the expense.

The tickets were a gift but unfortunately I’m otherwise engaged on those dates. The thread was an attempt to restore some funds to the gifter.

I do love Aintree. It was actually the Sefton/Becher meet I’ve had on my to do list but now that they’ve split them they’re much less appealing. Maybe I’ll make the National meet at some stage.

    Thanks for your help.

Chezza just go , stay at the Adeplhi for the full Aintree experience ….erm I believe this is where the Liverpool ladies of the night work during the festival

    Knock at the door

Llon ” Are you chezza ”

Chezza ” my reputation proceeds me ”

Llon ” I hear your into kinky things ”

    Chezza opens his suitcases

    Llon ” Biscuits ”

Chezza ” I like to dip them ”

    Llon ” ….. Where ”

    Maggie Maggie May,
    They have taken her away,
she’ll never walk down Lime Street anymore!
    Etc. . .

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highways

I’m going back to Aintree in April after my first visit last year but I’m only going for the first two days.

The National was just a blur last year. The race seemed to go by in a flash. And to make sure you get a good spot in the stands you have to forego seeing the horses in the paddock.

I’d rather enjoy the preliminaries and the race on the telly.

I realised big race days bring me more negatives than positives years ago.

I was at Ascot Champions’ Day for Frankel’s two wins, and I went last year, but although it’s just a half hour drive from where I live, I had decided “never again” and gave it the swerve.

I shall enjoy Grand National Day at home, the same as I will enjoy the Boxing Day racing at home on Monday.
