    Huzzah!

At least we are seeing more progress in this field, hopefully before long it will be widely available and not isolated to 1 or 2 tracks and the Champions Series.

A bit daft calling it a trial when it ran for 2 years at all the all-weather tracks. Perhaps they are making a pre-excuse to avoid PR flack if they drop it after the Champion races.

Hope the authorities finally get the message that it is of little use to do just the odd meeting. For punters that means you then have some sectional form for a couple in the race but blanks for all the rest. As usual, a change is happening (gradually occurring) without consultation with a single punter.

Hope the tracks will re-measure the furlong pole positions as otherwise they will be embarrassed when they find they are well out of position and the electronic systems differ with the visual and the "know nothing know alls" post disparaging messages that it is all useless.

There is even more going on but where is BHA in all this to coordinate things? :

RaceTech is preparing to showcase a new sectional timing system
following nearly six months of racecourse trials at Kempton, while SIS has joined forces with Leicester to assist with the development of its "new" beam break sectional timing system, which will be trialled at the Midlands circuit throughout the Flat season.

There is even a tiny amount of talk of measuring NH tracks properly. A first since 1898.

I agree little use if not widespread, need figures for all or it is like being asked to paint a colour picture with black ink only.

Slow progress I suppose, but progress none the less.

It is particularly embarrassing though that in this day and age, UK racing still is not up to speed with something so simple as sectional timings.

Pensions to service, got to get the priorities right.
