Robert – I’ve been told by the BHA themselves that they have
no rights to the Aintree data
. Aintree have granted them access to it for purpose of assisting the investigations into the race. Those are the facts as I understand them. The use of the data, in the case of Aintree, is NOT controlled by the BHA. I can’t make it any plainer (and I have the facts right here in front of me.)
Unless you know differently?
I think the BHA generally support the
idea
of sectionals in a vague-ish way, but the funding of it seems to be the problem. Rod Street of RFC and Chief Executive of the Qipco series, works closely with the BHA so I think the decision to finance timings for the Champiosn Series can be taken as encouraging.
Perhaps having an Australian at the helm will help accelerate progress.

May 26, 2012 at 22:41 #405586I am now of the opinion that fractional times are not important for racing, we still have fantastic racing in this UK. Why must we conform. So what if everyone else has them. For the casual race goer/ punter it will only add to the confusion. Lets focus on recur-ting new fans, not bashing the BHA/ turftrax.
