There was carnage during the first at Leopardstown, an 18-runner handicap chase where only 9 finished the course – falls, unseated, brought down, pulled up. ATR reported Second Glance and Quartetto to be fatalities.

Quartetto took a horrible fall; didn’t see what went wrong with Second Glance. RIP, both.
It didn’t look good for Sizing Rio in one of the later races either. He pulled up injured. Does anyone have any news?

Sizing Rio confirmed in the HRI list of 2nd Jan. No mention of either Second Glance or Quartetto. Neither are mentioned as having been fatally injured in RP’s results, but they’re not always accurate with their descriptions.

The race report in Monday’s Post says Sizing Rio "was in trouble after three out and picked up a fatal injury". Pity it wasn’t considered worth mentioning on the web site.

Horses frequently appear on the HRI list weeks after their demise. Perhaps the trainers are allowed a relatively long period to inform the authorities?

Christmas got in the way too reetless. No report for the 26th December as I guess it was a holiday in Ireland too. I was a bit surprised to see a list for the 2nd, but thought I’d check anyway. As you say, may be reported in the coming weeks.
