Horrible incident today, and I was so upset for his connections bringing one over for it to end like that.
Poor horse got from the last hurdle to the winning post on 3 legs before being caught. Really put a cloud over the race, which was a shame.
December 14, 2013 at 20:14 #461833Really sad news. They said on C4 that it was a suspected broken shoulder, but that he’d been taken off in the horse ambulance and there was no further news given after that. RIP.
December 15, 2013 at 12:08 #461874All in all the recipe for one of racings worse kind of tragedies [not least of which was that he was running in a race where he had little chance of winning] compounded by the fact that he ended up in front of the stands. I kept hoping beyond hope that what I’d heard was wrong and that they’d be able to save him. What a sad journey home for connections.
December 15, 2013 at 13:42 #461885I agree with all of you here. RIP lad
I always feel so sad for a horse and his connections when the horse dies away from home, nightmare journey home with an empty box. Not a good visit generally for the French this time.December 15, 2013 at 14:59 #461891I did wonder as well if he was just running to give the jockey some experience of the track before the next race. As Gemix ran so badly I also thought that, perhaps the jockey was pretty shook up by what happened.
December 15, 2013 at 17:25 #461905I was stood on the rails only about 20 feet away from where he stopped, just minutes before I was saying how beautiful he looked. As he ran past us on 3 legs I felt so sick I wanted to run over and hug the poor lad! His connections looked genuinely distraught as the walked away from the scene aswell.
Truly awful!RIP Seabreeze D’ho
