It looks like decent ground at Ayr after watching the racing replay. Ferdy Murphy was interviewed after Three Mirrors had won and he said that the horse needed good ground, so the ground looks to have gone against the mud lovers unless they get overnight rain. Ferdy also reckoned the ground would be quicker tomorrow and he thought the Alan King will not run HG if this turns out to be the case. Also talked up the 7lb claimer that is attached to Lucinda Russell’s stable, who he’s booked to ride Noir Et Vert. The owner wasn’t keen on running from almost a stone out of the handicap, but Ferdy said that if he could book a future champion jockey that could claim 7lbs could he run, so the answer was yes!
April 18, 2008 at 20:48 #158602I live 2 minutes from the course and its not rained all week except a light shower yesterday. Overnight rain doesn’t look likely either.
Noir Et Vert for me!

April 19, 2008 at 07:26 #158636I quite like the look of Noir et Vert and also Leading Man at a bigger price EW.
April 19, 2008 at 08:30 #158651Hello,
Looks like the ground has gone against KILBEGGAN BLADE, but it is still attracting support this morning.
I think I will have a small interest in PATSY HALL, stamina doubts, but ran a superb race, to a point, at the Festival.
regards,
doyley
April 19, 2008 at 09:31 #158668I backed Kilbeggan Blade ew earlier this week, the ground is a worry now as he is better on softer. The only reason that I can see for him being backed today is valuescope have tipped him.
If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.
April 19, 2008 at 09:38 #158670no bet
April 19, 2008 at 09:49 #158674the ground is on the fast side of good now…….be aware.
April 19, 2008 at 11:15 #158687Hi Guys,
An outsider who could be interesting here for me is Openide. Ran a cracker last time out and has his ground. EW prospect I would think.
Mike.April 19, 2008 at 11:38 #158693Still hate seeing that use of the whip from Andrew Thornton on Miko De Beauchene at Chepstow, they keep showing it on ATR.
April 19, 2008 at 12:22 #158701Uncle Benny looks like going off favourite but on all known form is a soft ground horse.
Ferdy Murphy’s would want it good to firm to be seen at his best but I duppose he will run better than he he did in awful ground at Cheltenham.
Halcon Genelardais is another who definately would prefer more cut but was staying on at the end of the Gold Cup so the trip should suit. Whether he has enough class to give weight all round is another matter and must e a minus but being a bad race must have a big chance.
Miko de Beauchene had enough speed to finish second in the pertempts plus won a gruelling 3m4f chace at Haydock on good to soft ground good in places….the ground may actually act more in his favour than Halcon Genelardais but despite the 5lbs pull I still prefer the former over this trip.
Patsy Hall definately would prefer some cut, ran well at Cheltenham failing to to prouce the goods. He hadn’t run since the Hennessy in which he ran a stinker which may or not mean he isn’t the soundest of animals.. Shrewed trainer but the horse could be shrewder than him. Untrustworthy and has been the subject of three gambles in his lifetime and never won. Hard to leave out hard to bet.
Openide ran the best race of his life at Cheltenham finishing second in the Kim Muir Challenge. Well behind at the third last he was hampered by a lose horse and had to go round him costing him 2 or 3 lengths. He was still well behind at the top of the hill but started picking them off one by one including Ferdy Murphy’s Noir Et Vert who he went past like he was standing still. He pitched badly on landing at the last but still had enough reserves left to make up a fair bit of distance on the winner. In the end he was beaten 7 lengths and would have won in another couple of hundred yards. Taking into consideration he was hampered and the mistake at the last he’s run an absolute cracker.
It could have been a one off, but if not wherever Noir Et Vert finishes this one should finish a dozen lengths or more in front of him. His jockey get’s rides from Phillip Hobbs so he must be fair and there is no great turn around in the weights. Whether he is good enough to cope with those in the handicap proper or not I don’t know but the 20/1 with Ladbrokes seems to good to be true and much better value than Noir Et Vert at 8/1 despite the fact. no doubt, Ferdy Murphy may have trained him specifically for this.
I go for Openide of a low eight to keep the Frenchies at bay
1.Openide
2.Halcon Genelardais (fr)
3. Opera Mundi (fr)
4. Miko de Beauchene(fr)April 19, 2008 at 12:40 #158707Really don’t like my bet on Opera Mundi now given the ground.
April 19, 2008 at 13:13 #158712I hardly ever venture onto this board where the big boys hang out but I am on the team and on the job for punters
If you are looking for a saver to your main selection try a small each-way on: –ANOTHER RUM[/color:2dnhmnxv][/size:2dnhmnxv]
April 19, 2008 at 13:22 #158713Really don’t like my bet on Opera Mundi now given the ground.
It’s Saturday it’s Nicholls it’s Ruby…….that’s enough to scare anyone who hasn’t bet it David.
April 19, 2008 at 14:38 #158726Think Ossmosese/w didnt make the cut for the National which looked to be his long term target so may put in a decent run here.
April 19, 2008 at 14:50 #158731Well, there we go.
That horse was tanking off on the way to the line, didn’t seem to be stopping, quite a taking performance.
Our boy Halcon won a good race there, too much weight in the end there but has run another fantastic race.
April 19, 2008 at 14:59 #158734Don’t mind if I get killed by the Aftertime Police, just had £1 ew on Iris de Balm at 100/1 & 80/1 biggest win of my life. I suppose if you throw enough sh#t! Well done to Sean Curran and the team. Graham Cunningham even mentioned him on RUK in the preamble this morning so I thought I’d get on early just in case any money went on him…
April 19, 2008 at 15:00 #158735I know it’s being wise after the event but this fella does have Voy Por Ustedes in his extended family. Makes you wonder how far Voy Por could go!
