Was watching C4 racing yesterday. Whilst I don’t mind the previous winner having some air time. I can’t stand the pictures of them on the bottom of the screen watching their selection. What is the point? Yesterday was a joke. She had everyone she knew in front of the camera and the woman to her left irritated me beyond belief. Also whislt I’m having a moan did anyone count how many bl…dy times she said she didn’t mind not winning the bonus because she already had £208,000 Yes we know and we don’t need reminding.
August 26, 2007 at 13:09 #112549Hello,
I thought she come across very well.
She appeared genuine who wanted her family to be with her on this unique occasion. In fact, of all the Scoop 6 televised winners of the past she gets my vote for being the most worthy, who appeared to be a genuinely nice person

regards,
doyley
August 26, 2007 at 14:07 #112550“…being the most worthy …”
there is no most worthy surely, every winning ticket is as worthy as the next
August 26, 2007 at 15:42 #112551I thought she came across very well especially on the ML, about 10 times better than femail in front of a camera. I certainly couldn’t cope with a camera stuck up my nose when under that sort of pressure
August 26, 2007 at 20:22 #112569she didn’t have to have the camera stuck up her nose……..My point is that C4 do not stick to the actual racing and spend too much time looking at what the women are wearing at the big meetings and I do not want to watch anyone else excited or otherwise on the screen during the finish to a race. That’s all.
August 26, 2007 at 21:08 #112571thought she was ok, a bit flat chested though.
August 27, 2007 at 09:46 #112584Hello,
OK "worthy" isn’t the right word, but I thought she was an all round "good egg"
I agree crizzy that as a "Racing" show, more time should be alloctaed to it’s core subject, but it is increasingly difficult to pad out 30 minutes between races’.
Especially when the majority of racing’s fraternity, [meaning snobby owners and trainers], deliberately avoid partaking in such "degrading" activity as discussing or exchanging views about their sport/business with such drivel as the betting public via Channel 4.It must be incredibly difficult for programme directors/producers to acquire sufficient material to "pad" out the non-racing parts of a programme when the people who are directly involved in the topic you are televising are still living in the 18th Century and refuse to discuss their activities with serfs and minions like us

Believe, me, the Class System is alive and well at many courses’ and meetings..so spare a thought for a Channel 4 researcher approaching a trainer for a possible view point on a steed to be aired over the TV, only to be waved away like an insolent child or looked upon as Oliver who asked for more.
There is a thread on here regarding the death of racing, if it does go the way most people think, one of the primary reasons will be the heirachy who live in the past, and will continue to behave like 16th century land owners whilst the sport withers away. Rather like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic, whilst she majestically sinks beneath the waves

So, whilst THEY have their Cocker-Ts’ and Pimms, and leave the racecourse [separate exit of course!],for their jaggers to thier country
Retreat or Summer Residence, we will have to put up with Thommo judging a load of tarts in garish garments.

August 27, 2007 at 11:21 #112594Well put Doyley. I take those points, fair enough…..Perhaps my view was a bit aggressive and I suppose she was entitled to her 5 mins of fame. Still don’t want winners on screen during close of race! Cheers..
