Classic Getaway is 7-4 which is a gift. Should be evens at most. Bronn is talented but might need the run after his injury on reappearance and Monkfish is unlikely to be as good as he was. The others are good handicappers.

Got 3-1 on him GAG. Overpriced still as you say

I know, I don’t have a William Hill account and was hopping when I saw that price and was willing the other firms to get on with pricing it up before Willie more or less told us he’s going to win and the price contracted, but no joy.

Completely agree, think Classic Getaway is Rick solid here. I seen the 100-30 last night, but didn’t bother as I knew I’d be betting Roi Mage, and possibly Jungle Boogie

Roi Mage is my main bet at 28’s. I think he’ll go well enough, and think he’s overpriced. Think he can challenge for second. He could actually go out in price as well, and I’d top up if that was the case, but I think we could also have a Non Runner in this lot, so could be hit with a R4 too

I didn’t have any plans to bet Jungle Boogie, more of a watching brief, but I do like him, and missed the 12’s, even when he started going blue across the board. I then missed the 10’s as well FFS. I think de Bromhead could get him ready for The Thyestes here, and I’ll bet him in running if he looks like making a go of it.

Would be a bit nuts to bet two in a seven runner race, when I think another horse will actually win, so Roi Mage for now, and potentially Jungle Boogie in running

Edit got my 3pls, and topped up to 33’s. Price give on Jungle Boogie, so unlikely I’ll add him now, even in running

    Jungle Boogie (possible I/R)
    Roi Mage 33’s EW 3Pls

Be tempted by Longhouse Poet has a pretty good record this time of year.

The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.

    “What did he say?”

    This:
“Danny Mullins is sticking to Classic Getaway and he’s race-fit coming into it which could be key in these conditions.”
Translation- the other two are fat as bulls and won’t win. Also, Danny wants to hang onto the ride for the Gold Cup.

WPM after tomorrow’s race: “Damn. I forgot I don’t train Jungle Boogie anymore. Is it too late to get him back?”

I reckon Jungle will come on a mountain from that first run , that was def a ” pop round and see ”

I seen CG at the 3/1, which is fair enough, not sure id be as confident on him as you both are though, cant see the long term plan with monkfish, obviously wasnt running fit at the end of last season, he’d leave this field for dead if hes retained any of his old form, are they just priming him for one GC tilt and hoping for the best? They obviously know he cannot beat GDC, so that seems a suspect plan, have a strange feeling he’ll be more fit tomorrow than his price suggests, ill hold off and try and catch the drift tomorrow which seems likely given jockey bookings

Will try and recoup some JB place money tomorrow,

Very intriguing race to say the least

While we can’t rule it out….

The amount of horses i can think of WPM saying that for so far is ……zero?

VTC- I hope you got the 12s early doors. He’s 15-2 now.

Agree on the Thyestes, although it would obviously depend upon what mark he gets given after he sluices up this afternoon.

Yeah- saw that, Jack. I’m pretty sure that the ride he’s given in this afternoon’s race will give us some idea of where they’re aiming him later in the season.

Another tenderly handled ride and he’s almost certainly being aimed at a nice handicap.

How fragile he is you’d imagine he won’t be pushed around for 19k given how talented he is? We are guessing thought of course

I don’t know much about Classic Getaway, but soundness is his number one issue.
Winner of a PTP in November 2020 -> 177 days off -> wins a bumper -> 226 days off -> manages to run four times between January and April 2022 -> 213 days off -> wins a Chase in November 2022 -> 4th in April 2023 -> 219 days off -> wins a conditions Chase

Just too many question marks, no matter how classy he is and 11/8 is a joke. Even if he should win it.

Jungle Boogie (10 years old and only four runs so far) has too much to prove and the bounce could be a factor on his 2nd start after a break.

I’ll take a chance on the Cross Country specialist Roi Mage an 25s EW and will take another one on Monkfish at 3s. However, he’s also ten and the switch from fences to hurdles and now back to fences after a summer break is just too uninspiring. Willie would know how fit he is right now, but getting him ready also seems a problem.

Maybe Minella Crooner and Longhouse Poet could be the ones to benefit from any mishaps.
