“Jesus that was strange , what was going on with I am maximus , are they not going GN”

He’s 170 rated so too hard to get his mark down, presumably instructions were to hunt round the back for a circuit then push on. I wonder if he’ll get a run in the Gold Cup.

If that’s his best hope then hes unlikely to be winning , I imagine Pauling enjoyed watching that , his horse has a right chance come March

Considering the mediocre stable form GDC ran really well. His jumping was very slick as usual.

Your selections are on page 2 Wilts – well done indeed !!!

Check out the Gold Cup market. Been some time since I saw one like that.

Given his background, there could be a bit to come yet from Affordale Fury. Hills 16s for the Gold Cup won’t last. Well done Wilts.

If they were priming for April I would have expected him to spectate from the back , GDC was fine , however this year’s GC looks like it’s likely to be a hot affair , percentage call is one or 2 with younger legs will have too much tap for him

Iknowthewayurthinkin ran as I feared he might and to me that is as blatant a horse being publically schooled in a race as he was never in the race at any stage.

Glad to see Champ Kiely galloping away behind the field as I had thought for a moment he might have broken down but likely he either clipped heels or took a false step after the fence.

Very sad to see Geri ‘run’ like that – commentators said he looked a picture in the paddock but it seemed like he had zero interest in racing and I hope he is ok as I can’t see Elliott bringing a horse of his calibre to the course for this type of race and not being fit to at least do himself justice (unlike the Gold Cup winner).

This was the winners Gold Cup and he travelled better than anything else although his jumping out to his right was rather alarming and I am not sure why O’Connor (I am Maximus) didn’t cut back to the inside like Townend ‘eventually’ did going to the 2nd last.

I think it would be wrong to go straight to Cheltenham with GDC simply because I think he is a horse that does better with racing under his belt (especially considering this was his first run of the season) – I fully expect that most of today’s runners will also be in the Irish Gold Cup field at the DRF.

Galopin ran well but he was unbeatable over this trip/track- now he isn’t . That says to me he’s just lost that yard of pace like all great athletes do with age. Harry Redknapp and Sean Bowen will sleep a little easier tonight
Paul Townend will soon be fretting whether to desert a great champion and ride Gaelic Warrior in the Gold Cup. As for the present Gold Cup holder, the evidence mounts that he won a very ordinary renewal last year (take out Galopin and the average OR was 162) and he presently looks way off winning another.
A first Savills winner for Noel Meade since Road to Respect in 2017. I don’t see Affordale being good enough to win in March but he should put up a sound display and be in contention for the places.

I Am Maximus would’ve won if he hadn’t have been hampered. He ran a stormer.

I wonder if Cromwell has been practising his fake ” disappointed ” face in the mirror , JP no doubt picking up his each way money on I am Maximus

I Am Maximus looked very well in the paddock if just a wee bit tubby. Galopin Des Champs looked superb given the time of year. RTE show some excellent close ups in the padock. I use a cheap VPN, choose a Dublin server, and you get the full programme; don’t even need to register.

HDLG- Wait till Feb- Galopin hoses up at the DRF then sure he won’t- If he gets beaten again, then we’ll see.
