I doubt the trainers of GDC and Fastorslow would want to run their horses on heavy ground. They’ll likely wait for the DRF.
December 28, 2023 at 09:39 #1675346Janidil and Fastorslow now out, wonder how many more will drop out.
December 28, 2023 at 10:24 #1675348Ah HDLG so line up your list of excuses for BMG and BMG only lol
I can see why people are questioning the prices before he was pulled, however, GDC had excuses end of a hard season + trip/jumping on reappearance. He still is 178 and Fastorslow 168 and still has RPRs much higher- don’t have access to TF to confirm theirs. Bookies obviously expecting a different Galopin today rightly or wrongly…..like they expected a different BMG HDLG???

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 28, 2023 at 11:07 #1675354With this ground I won’t risk betting any of the favourites. I hope Appreciate It kan surprise. I think 3 miles might be his optimal distance now and he has a tendency to jump left, but has mostly been running on righthanded tracks. He has proven himself on soft/heavy ground in the past. Also added Chruststonewarriors as a saver beccause of his big price and the fact that this might be his goal instead of Cheltenham.
Appreciate It 11/1
Churchstonewarrior 80/1 EWDecember 28, 2023 at 14:33 #1675380Fair to say………so so so good.

December 28, 2023 at 14:34 #1675382Masterclass by GDC. Nobody will be close in the Gold Cup if he is on his best level.
December 28, 2023 at 14:38 #1675383Absolutely Awesome.
Nothing touches him in March if he’s in that form.
The RSA has been proven now to be a terrible renewal. Both The Real Whacker and Gerri Colombe put in their place.
December 28, 2023 at 14:40 #1675384I am Maximus was very disappointing as he was in with every chance for 2nd but didn’t stay surprisingly.
December 28, 2023 at 14:42 #1675385That was spectacular
Stuck to my word and backed him once it was clear he was going to be ridden from the front
The change in tactics worked and he will surely get a huge figure for that
Second 180+ of his career?
December 28, 2023 at 14:42 #1675386I didnt think GDC would enjoy that ground too much but he’s won by miles anyway.
December 28, 2023 at 14:46 #1675387A magnificent performance by the reigning champion; it’s over to Fastorslow now, to see if he can continue his improvement.
The bar has been set very high indeed, and it’s good to see the “Gold Cup leaves its mark” hoodoo put to bed.
December 28, 2023 at 14:46 #1675388HDLG won’t need to mention the ‘Gold Cup has had an effect’ lines again this season ;o)
December 28, 2023 at 14:46 #1675389How far would he have won the gold cup by last year if he’d been ridden prominently?
December 28, 2023 at 14:48 #1675390Jumps much better when not held up

I didn’t mind the ride last year as its championship pace over 26.5f
December 28, 2023 at 14:50 #1675393Yes, a very good performance and I’m glad he won in such convincing style. Robert and Courtney have nice horses, but this one isn’t a GC contender by any means.
As Gladders pointed out, it’s in Fastorslow’s hands to make a race out of it. The first home today was genuine G1 class, the rest will end up in a GN one day.
