3:35 Chepstow – Henry Daly’s horses are in good form and he looks to have found a good opportunity for Vaughan to win his first hcap hurdle. He ran reasonably well on ground softer than ideal when returning to hurdles at Newbury and the opposition here looks moderate. Backed to win at 3/1. Monticelli might be a danger if fit enough after a 548 day absence from racing.

    4:30 newcastle LAY CELESTIAL HALO

I must be missing something here, but I can’t for the life of me work out why Celestial Halo is so short.

One quite good run last year, a fancy entry and a big stable in reasonable form doesn’t add up to a 1.7 shot in this race in my book.

Obviously he may be doing well at home but there are some half-decent and potentially half-decent opponents here and I reckon the favourite is worth a win lay at current odds.

Running for us are the arab owned El Dececy and Anne Bronte who both possess ability, plus Derby entry Highland Legacy and the unexposed Bivouac from the in-form Swinbank yard.

Might look a bit silly after the race but it is a cheap lay imo…

(Swallow – I like Vaughan, but think that today might be the day for a very well-handicapped and now fit Jahash to land a small touch)

You were right NV about Jahash being backed but the race was won by his stable companion who I said might be a danger. I sometimes put money on horses who I think might beat my selection but didn’t today:( <br>Good luck later on with your bet – it will be interesting to see if Celestial Halo gets backed.

Lol! Celestial Halo had obviously been catching those proverbial pigeons at home and wouldn’t look out of place in a Derby trial next time, whilst the rest of the field possessed more assinine than equine racing ability.

Can’t win them all. And we’ll never know about Jahash…
