Anyone going tomorrow. Not a punting card, but some nice types running.
April 24, 2009 at 10:46 #223325Yes – I shall be there
April 24, 2009 at 13:44 #223358I won’t be going, but will be watching the following closely with a view to the future…..
SAPTAPADI / TAAMEER – 2.00
BRENIN TARAN – 2.35
PARTHENON – 3.10
RAFAAN – 4.20
April 24, 2009 at 16:30 #2233862:00 Really interested in Malibu Bay, looked very promising on his debut run last season, will be better for a step up. Saptapdi is certainly an interesting prospect
2.35 Master of disguise, was really impressive when he won at Bath, travelled strongly and found instantly when asked for his effort, never even off the bridle, should have every chance of putting his best foot forward given plenty of pace aroudn him. If not today he will improve from his mark of 84 i expect.
Plenty for the notebook today i’m sure
April 24, 2009 at 18:21 #223401Paul, or anyone who was watching on TV- any obvious reason for the drift of Benin Tarn in the 2:35? Was a well-backed 11/4 shot all morning then drifted like the proverbial barge before running accordingly. "They knew…."
April 24, 2009 at 18:49 #223407He was the one at the front end of the market I wanted to be against. The Thirsk run lacks strength in depth and was concerned that having hung like he did there, he’d end up in the middle of the track at Sandown, not the place to be. He also looked headtsrong a couple of times at 2, not the sort of horse I’d like to have onside turned out quickly.
Also something had to give in the market with the winner backed off the boards and the well-in second also attracting support.
April 24, 2009 at 19:22 #223411Thanks DJ
April 24, 2009 at 19:25 #223413A race where the market just got it spot on.
April 24, 2009 at 19:45 #223417To be fair the winner was potentially thrown in on the Bath form. I took the view he was the only one that went on the ground there and wouldn’t be so effective today. Couldn’t have been more wrong!
April 24, 2009 at 19:50 #223419To be honest that bath run stood out to me. From the race it’s self i though, Cut The Cackle could be winning again soon enough, she had a wider draw, slowly away and got outpaced pretty quickly the speed they went off she had no chance of getting back into the race, finished well though and I’m sure she’ll win again
April 24, 2009 at 20:14 #223423I was all over the second, so was another cursing the result (backed him win only as I was worried that if he didn’t get over from his draw he could easily finish out of the frame) Particulrly irritating as he has clearly chased home a very smart horse today and I’m sure he won’t offer much value next time out…
April 24, 2009 at 20:20 #223425Unlucky, TDK . You should be ok though, you’re still dining off that Something win i bet!
April 24, 2009 at 22:12 #223442Always a very interesting card and often nice sunshine and a decentish crowd (rather than tomorrows scrum) for a Friday
A lot to like about Star Rubys performance I thought…
April 25, 2009 at 00:16 #223468Had a good day in the sunshine and lots of paddock notes taken.
Agree with Clive, Star Ruby looks a decent filly.
Not sure I will go tomorrow. £23 entry and £2 for a bottle of water is two months subscription to RUK!

I know its a bit short notice Lewey, but if you get the train to Cowden and then walk to Chiddingstone (about a mile and a half) there is Penshurst point to point. Only £5.00 for pedestrians, £2.00 for your race card and point to point folk tend not to drink water.
