You guys talking about Valseur Lido? He doesn’t win left-handed very often…I think only 1 career win? Easy to say he didn’t stay but he’s won over 3 miles before.

    Valseur lido.
Cracking run over course and distance in both the jlt and 2nd in last season’s ryanair both behind vautour. Can’t be knocked for that surely.

Won the drinmore by 8 lengths,
Finished 1/2 a length behind apache stronghold in the flogas and in the jlt when both times clear of decent horses.
2nd in last season’s john durkan behind djakadam.
    Finished infront of
    road to riches
    Taquin de seuil
    Village vic
    Josses hill and
    Alferof
    In last year’s ryanair.

He’d be the horse in the betting with the most solid form over 2 1/2 miles for me

Good news too for me as I’d also backed him at 25s after you had alerted me to it on a separate thread.

I was alerted to the 25’s by Rocky91 i think, so all praise to him for sharing. :good:

Taken a chance now, and though he’ll probably go bigger if he fails to shine tomorrow, I was happy to chance Village Vic at 65’s to 70’s.

Still feel the Ryanair has taken away significantly from both the 2-mile Champion + the Gold Cup

“He’s clearly got a chance if returning to his Betfair Chase glory but remember he was also well below his best – perhaps with excuses – on his previous two starts. That by mentioning the Ryanair Tizzard seems to have accepted so swiftly his younger chasers’ supremacy is also hardly a ringing endorsement for the project. Cue Card surely shouldn’t be favourite”.

“That mantle rightfully belongs at this admittedly early stage for such a race to either Un De Sceaux – who probably runs here (if at all at the Festival) unless the ground is heavy or something happens to prevent stablemate Douvan from running in the Champion Chase – or Valseur Lido”.

“The latter found only scintillating Vautour too good in last season’s Ryanair, albeit he was ridden as the follow-up blow in a Gigginstown combination punch on the winner with Road To Riches enduring a battering on the ropes first”

“Valseur Lido seems an improved horse since and travelled into the Lexus nicely before failing to stay. That was also the analysis of Gigginstown’s Michael O’Leary who mentioned the Ryanair as his revised Festival target and yet Sky Bet and Paddy Power still offer 12/1. Let’s take that, each-way. The 11s and 10s around elsewhere are also perfectly acceptable.

Rich ricci in the racing post on DJAKADAM

I was disappointed after the Lexus. He was keen and it was a bit too soon after the John Durkan. I don’t think that was his true running. I think he goes so well fresh that we’ll go straight to Cheltenham, for either the Gold Cup or Ryanair. It it came up soft ot heavy he’d have another crack at the Gold Cup, but if it’s quicker ground we’d have to consider the Ryanair

    Valseur lido 25/1
    God’s own 33/1
    Djakadam 20/1
    Sub lieutenant 20/1

Will do for me. I’d fancy all 4 to win this race if they turn up.

Really happy with Champagne West and Village Vic yesterday.

OK, Village Vic went down fighting again, but I just think without the likes of Vautour to battle with this time around, he might fare better here, rather than giving plenty of weight away, as he has the last few runs. They considered The Plate for him last year, but I’d be hoping to see him given a break now, before getting another crack at this.

Granted, Tramore in early January is a million miles from Cheltenham in March, but I thought Champagne West won very easily yesterday, and for the first time in a long time, his round wasn’t littered with mistakes. With more time under De Bromhead, then this horse could finally deliver after promising so much earlier in his career.

Think this race will be too quick for Cue Card; Un De Sceaux at 6/1 for me

This has the making of a hell of a race. Despite swearing off Mullins horses, I’ll be taking the 20 Djakadam – a daft price for a horse whose best trip this probably is and who’ll avoid a very hot Gold Cup imo.

Some price that Joe, reckon he’ll head here. Really looking forward to this race, and hoping to reverse my performance in it last year.

I would be absolutely shocked if Djakadam is not in the Gold Cup. Ok, there’s a machine coming in the shape of Thistlecrack but Djakadam, for me, is firmly in the cluster of horses who will hold their ground [cue card, Don Coss, Bradstocks horse etc.]

Case can be made for improving young horse, jumping getting better and better and the only two horses to better him over last two years not fully fit. Whisper it… but Thistlecrack could be prone to an error

    Taken the 33s Uxizandre.

Still a bit left after being Pricewise’d but potentially shocking renewal. Kingy says back in work and goes to Doncaster next week.

Shocking renewal?! I think it’s one of the most intriguing race of the week, and could be very competitive.
