Many of the races yesterday were preceded until a minute or two before the start with in depth interviews with connections of winners of previous races. Thought this was poor and that the races coming up should have previewed properly with horses being shown in the paddock and going to post.

One raced was even preceded by a discussion about starting procedures, surely the wrong place and time to be discussing such an issue. The pundit, maybe unsurprisingly came up with the ridiculous suggestion of changing starting procedures in time for Cheltenham.

Surely all these interviews and discussions should be shown at a more appropriate time than in the middle of busy Saturday’s afternoon live racing?

You can watch replay around the clock through the night but not a sign of any of these interviews.
Unless RUK get their act together soon I can see them losing viewers, one here for sure and they will only have themselves to blame.

    Agreed.

Unfortunately, no surprise. All about the presenter(s) thinking they are more important than the actual racing.

I was looking forward to the 2 races at Wolverhampton the Lincoln Trials, it was almost an afterthought as they joined the 2nd race after adverts and when half the horses were in the stalls as if it were all about the betting and no thought for those who would actually have liked to have had a look at the runners.

Sandown not much better as commented above.
Personally wish they would introduce the red button feature where you could choose either to watch so called ‘in depth interviews’ or stay around the paddock and then watch horses going to post…no commentary required. :good:

Going slightly off-topic, Timeform Radio’s coverage one day last week was dire. I think it was Tuesday.

All they talked about was Cheltenham and half the show consisted of presenter and the Timeform pundit going through emails from listeners giving tips for the big races at Cheltenham, and then giving each horse a chance out of 5. Then adidng up the totals and seeing who was giving the best tips. As if the two jokers in the studio were automatically right! Very tiresome and tedious after the first ten minutes.

They gave virtually no thoughs on the racing that was going on that afternoon (admittedly it was poor stuff that day), probably because they had done no research on it whatsoever in their total obsession with next week at Cheltenham.

The Timeform pundit was Dan Barber, I can’t remember who the presenter was (I do remember he is a Norwich City supporter) – but it was incredibly poor stuff.

I think the timing of the races was bad yesterday. Wolves races should have started firve minutes before the Chepstow races, not five minutes after the Ayr races (and ten minutes before the Chepstow) ones.

Jumps races take longer than flat ones. It made o sense whatsoever.

Unfortunately, RUK’s coverage seems to worse now than when I first started watching nearly 10 years ago. Even with only one meeting to cover, they fail to give a list of runners and riders and rarely show the horses in the paddock. At best you see some going down to post with a talk’over, which is usually about a different horse to the one on the screen. The producers seem to think we are all sitting here with the Racing Post and so don’t need relevant info such as who trains it, and how long is this race exactly? They used to have the distance on the betting show down the left hand side but seem to have taken it away. And when the pundit says ‘beautifully bred’ they fail to tell us what the breeding actually is.

The endless self-promoting adverts, particularly the ‘in the race to bring you the best coverage we lead’ and the ones with Michael Owen are becoming very irritating, and do we really need reminding every 10 minutes that Cheltenham is coming?. I can understand this type of ad while they are free to air, but if you are already a subscriber they are preaching to the converted, surely?

I don’t mind post-race interviews being shown in Racing Replay, but not when they should be previewing another race. If a trainer has something interesting to say about a runner coming up on the card, then can’t the presenter just pass the info on during the preview.

Also feel they need a short Racing News programme just before racing, perhaps instead of the daily bookie chat?

Haven’t watched RUK for a long time. Had a website sub and their service was deplorable. Now they’ve decided to employ the appalling J Kyle as the face of RUK…well, say no more

Have to agree Racing UK is getting worse and I am sorely tempted to ditch it.

One thing that angers me more than anything is them showing French racing virtually up to the start of a UK race.

It is Racing UK not Racing France and why do I want to watch French racing FFS when I can’t pick the winner of English races with all the form I can get my hands on yet can’t find anything with French form that I can understand nor their style of racing.

Could not agree more! My RUK subscription is going after Cheltenham, they are next to useless in my opinion. How in today’s age can they not provide you with a HD service, when you are paying over £20 per month? This is my biggest gripe with them which no ones mentioned yet, very poor picture quality indeed.

Those streaming sites are OK, but try watching an actual race at Cheltenham next week or a big game of football when thousands of others are doing the same…. Your stream crashes constantly, even with the fastest BB in the land.

RUK only broadcast for a few hours a day in reality, surely they can get this short time frame right? As has been mentioned there is plenty of time to show all of the other stuff while the racing is actually on! CH4 are there if you want all the rubbish on a Sat… As a racing subscriber I expect something a little different!!

Could not agree more about the stupid advertising, why they need to preach to me every five minutes with the same bloody advert, when I’m already paying them for the service is completely beyond me…. Idiots.

Oh one more thing too… I have RUK ‘anywhere’, it worked on my Iphone6 for just one week, and now their stupid app refuses to even load on the phone!
