I’m not really convinced he is a 3-miler, hawkwing, and if it was my decision, he’d be trained for the Champion Hurdle (though I’m not convinced he is good enough over 2m to win one, to be fair).

With the clock ticking ever closer,i being a realist would expect to see Mikael stick to hurdles now and start a fresh next season with novice chasing! You can bet a pound to a penny he would be targeted straight away at the RSA!That would just be my luck eh Grass?

Just had a look on the machine that knows everything before it happens and Mikael is cuurently trading-. 16 Arkle, 13 RSA, 50 Champion hurdle and interestingly he has come in from 130 to 30 for the World hurdle! Here we go again!

Imperial, your horse reminds me an awful lot of a previous RSA winner in the last 10yrs, which one? Clocks ticking!

I see Pandorama as being similar to a couple of the less celebrated RSA winners namely Hussard Collonges trained by Peter Beaumont and Rule Supreme trained by Willie Mullins. Both of those were strong stayers at the trip without having the class to be future King George or Gold Cup types. Pandorama could well be up to the task if it proves to be an ordinary year and/or it turns into a slog but I see him more as the next Notre Pere – the Welsh National will be right up Pandorama’s street in 50 weeks time !

You win the biggest prize on here! Instant recognition from me the ruler of the Kingdom of Ante-Post betting! You obviously have an eye for a horse and i respect that! Now lets see if you can put a couple of future winners up! Have you got a Betfair account?

I certainly do, doesn’t everyone these days ? As for future winners, well the two races that have become very clear to me are the Champion Hurdle and the Arkle. The CH lies between Zaynar and Solwhit and the Arkle will be won by either Somersby or Capt CeeBee although NJ Henderson is throwing a spanner in the works if he enters Long Run as that looked a fair machine at Kempton.

As we’re on the RSA thread I think Knockara Beau is a decent shout for that race – if he was trained by a big name he’d be much shorter. I have a slight concern about his jockey too but, to be fair, he hasn’t done much wrong on him thus far. The RSA chase will boil down to whether Punchestowns can run to his hurdle mark over fences – if he does he’ll most probably win but I remain to be fully convinced. Life is just not that simple that a 170+ hurdler automatically equals a 170+ chaser.

Knockara Beau must have a very sound chance, the word I had before the race was that Weird Al could not be beat on his chase debut (I was lucky enough to get on at 20-1) but Knockara Beau almost gave him 8lbs.
I’m still not 100% convinced Weird Al is an RSA horse but he’s got two course wins under his belt, he can come from behind or he can force the pace and there doesn’t appear to be any flaws in his makeup.
I’ve shortlisted Weird Al and Knockara Beau plus Punchestowns, Mikael DHaguenet and Diamond Harry all horses deserving serious consideration but they’ve all got to prove themselves over fences and it may be too late, Kangaroo Court must be a very live condenter, while Pandorama by far the best Chase form so far.

Champ hurdle, unless Dunguib or Voler La Vadette run my cash will stay in my pocket

    Alright Jamie – it’s been a while.

Punchestowns won’t need to run anywhere near his hurdles rating to win the RSA Chase. He could run a stone below that mark and it would very likely be good enough to win this race.

Pay no heed to TAPK – he’ll be handing over his crown as well as a nifty, when Mikael trots out for the Champion Hurdle on the Tuesday.

Hey Grassy, hows it going ? I’ve been catching up on some of these Cheltenham threads and I did think you had the better of the side bets with TAPK. Spend your winnings wisely !

You might well be right about Punchestowns – he does look a class apart on hurdle form but for some reason I have a doubt about him, just a hunch that this is not the race for him but if he bolts in then it won’t be a surprise.

I like the look of Weird Al at 14’s, very big horse with lots of scope, and will be a definate Gold Cup horse in seasons to come.

Has the very vital Course form, which can catch out some Novices, and when winning over 2m 5f at Cheltenham in early December, looked as if he was crying out for the step up in trip.

Yes Grass, you would be favourite to collect that bet,if he ever makes it to Cheltenham! As for handing you the Crown,i think you know there"s more chance of you winning the Tote 10 to follow!!

WEIRD AL is a very interesting runner although I would like to see him in another race with more pace on before Cheltenham. The last race he won was run in a very slow time so his jumping would not have been put under much pressure.

He is certainly one to consider, however.

You make a good point, however the way he jumped on both outings at Cheltenham suggests to me that the face past wont hinder him at all. I think if your goin to back a Novice at Cheltenham especially in the RSA Chase they have to have course form.

Does anyone know the current wellbeing of Michel Le Bon ? He’s a big price on Betfair but does that indicate a leg has fallen off or just that I’m the only person who identified him as a potential RSA candidate ?

Similarly Pride Of Dulcote is a stupidly big price. I know he had a setback after winning at Worcester but the reports were that he would be back on track during the festive season – he never appeared. Has he had another problem ?
