My horse for the race is Mikael D’Haguenet however there is a intresting runner in the betting that horse is called Long Run.Will be going to Henderson and will be intresting to watch.
Any thoughts on this race.
October 25, 2009 at 19:46 #255371A good summary of half-a-dozen pages of discussion on the Ante-Post Register thread!
October 25, 2009 at 20:12 #255380There’s an interview with Noel Meade in the Indo today and he seems quite bullish about Pandorama this season. I was blown away by this horse this time last year until Mikael D’Haguenet burst his bubble at Navan. He wasn’t right that day though and they made the right choice to skip Cheltenham. I think he’ll make a cracking staying chaser this year and it wouldn’t surprise me if he reversed form with MD somewhere along the way.
I would aim Mikael D’Haguenet at the Arkle if he were mine but Willie will have a job on trying to keep Fiveforthree, Cousin Vinny and himself apart if they all go for novice chases at the festival. A lot will depend on whether they can get Fiveforthree right in time.
Presumably Punchestowns and Bensalem will head up the home defence. I think there could be a Stayers Hurdle in Punchestowns if Henderson keeps him over the sticks. Barry rode him to beat the French horse last year and sort of forgot about Big Bucks. If they rode him a bit more conservatively I think he could beat Big Bucks over hurdles.
October 25, 2009 at 21:46 #255390Like the Arkle, this could be a serious race.
I’ve always loved Pandorama, he’s a beautiful horse. I think Mikael should go the Arkle route. Don’t forget Diamond Harry either.
October 26, 2009 at 08:13 #255436Nicky Henderson will have the winner chaps (in about 3 weeks time)
October 26, 2009 at 12:10 #255461Pride of Dulcote will take all the beating in this IMO. Very pleased with my AP 36/1
October 26, 2009 at 13:52 #255479Pandorama is out in the 3:25 at Punchestown tomorrow. Can’t wait to see this beast jump a fence.
October 27, 2009 at 16:22 #255664Don’t really know what to make of that run from Pandorama. Paul didn’t exactly put the gun to his head early on and gallop the opposition into submission like he did over hurdles. I think there’s a lot more in the tank but you’d still like him to be beating Clan Tara a bit more convincingly.
He jumped markedly to the left so I’d say Noel will keep him to the likes of Navan, Naas and Leopardstown from now on. We won’t see the best of him until he goes over three miles on a left handed track.
October 27, 2009 at 16:40 #255668I think you are spot on Imperial.
It certainly wouldn’t put you off given that he didn’t do alot wrong and as you say going left handed looks like it will make a big difference.I think the 20’s on offer with Coral and Stan James is fair.
Interesting that Punchestowns has been cut in price with most bookmakers and is now generally a 7-1 shot? I wonder if this is connected with Long Run’s likely target as he seems to have drifted?
I can’t wait to see Bensalem! Anyone know where he is being aimed for his first appearance over fences?
October 27, 2009 at 16:58 #255672Punchestowns was added to Bet365’s Arkle market at 11’s last week Peter so who knows.
October 27, 2009 at 17:05 #255673Pandoramam had to work hard but he won quite snugly in the end. He lost lots of ground at his fences, and I can see him winning a couple of races at the aforementioned tracks before running in the RSA. He will probably be one of the leading Irish hopes, but I thought he would have won more easily today

See Askasar goes today over 2 miles 4.
Anyone think he will be aimed at the RSA or the Arkle?

Ashkazar wouldn’t stay the RSA trip in a horsebox.

I don’t get what you mean Darren – if he had a horse box then he would not need to ue up any energy
Saw out the trip well today over 2m 4F – was carrying a lot of condition.
Beat nothing – I grant you.
Still, I thought it was an interesting ‘opening’ trip for him over fences.
I would say normally you start a horse at his minimum trip and step him up.
Starting hom at this distance makes you wonder if they may have half an eye on the RSA.
He is 20/1 for the Arkle – and not in the RSA betting so that would indicate your right. Still, an interesting trip to start him off at to then come back down for the Arkle.
Unless it was to take the pressure of his jumping at this stage?
October 29, 2009 at 23:02 #256116I’m definately going to have a little nibble @ the 20’s available for Pandorama. Thought it was a gentle introduction to fences and he had plenty left in the tank.

Looks as if he is going back to hurdles anyway in the short term, target the Greatwood Hurdle at the Paddy Power meeting.

Seems a strange one – after a fairly successful round of jumping to my eye.
Unless he just wanted to give him a prep for the greatwood and the only suitable way of doing this was in a gentle novice chase?
Still, seems a little bit arse-about-face to me….
