The Albany looks to be between the market leaders, Yoursothrilling put up a very impressive time last day out and she will take some beating tomorrow. Loch Jipp won the Hilary Needler well and is overpriced because of unfashionable trainer syndrome.
Nap of the day is in the King Edward in Salford Mill, He was once second fav in the AP market for the derby but after a setback drifted out in the betting but still ran a gallant race to be 6th. He didnt travel that well in the 1st half of the race and Ascot will suit him alot better.
Finsceal Beo has to be near over the top with 3 Gr1s in a month. Saying that she will relish the faster ground but Arch Swing and Rahiyah are better value bets, especially Rahiyah who has been campaigned for this race.
The Wolferton looks mightly competitive and i couldnt really be confident of a selection but Dansili Dancer looks a decent each way bet at 20s.
Mahler will relish the step up in trip in the Queens Vase, he did win well over 10 and 12 this season but it always striked me that he would be alot better over further. Eastern Anthem has to put a bad run behind him last time and he did have a tall reputation at the start of the season.
I have it between 3 in the 5.30 Pride Of Nation who didnt take up his engagement in the Hunt Cup, Wise Dennis who was given the best ride the last day even though Blythe has went on to win since and Uhoomagoo who won this last year and is my fav flat horse in training.

June 21, 2007 at 22:52 #65923Friday is by far the most difficult day from a punting perspective, and I can see myself limiting stakes to a minimum.
I was impressed by Youresothrilling last time out, and it was hard not to be given the time she recorded, but Aide Memoir did well to overcome a slow start at Bath recently and I fancy her to go close. She found an incredible turn of foot to win going away, in a decent time, and looks a rapid improver.
Having backed him for the Derby I’m hopeful that Lucarno will live up to my expectations, but Superstar Dave has done his previous form no favours whatsoever and Boscobel may just benefit from a tactical race. Mark Johnston’s horses remain ‘indifferent’ in their performances, but the selection hammered a useful yardstick in Dansant on his previous start and looks progressive. If Fanning can get to the lead early, this could be over 2f out.
I have a feeling that Yaqeen is better than we have seen thus far, and with Silkwood showing staggering improvement to win the Ribblesdale I may be forced into an each-way saver on this one, but Mi Emma has looked nothing short of world class in her three most recent starts. A nine length Listed winner, she went on to destroy a classic field by the same margin – and the form is holding up particularly well. The forecast 5/1 is crazy.
From hereon in things get a little ‘tight’ and it could be time to close shop for the day. Imperial Star (4.20) ran well behind Illustrious Blue when last seen, and he could go well under top weight, whilst Eastern Anthem (4.55) is worth persevering with over this longer trip. Godolphin stepped Papineau up in trip for the Gold Cup a couple of years ago, and could pull a similar trick off again here.
The closer is an absolute minefield and Leopoldine may be on a winnable mark, but Binanti can finally get his head in front. Drawn on the far side, there is plenty of pace surrounding him in the form of the likes of Song of Passion, and he could get the tow he needs to nab them all on the line.

June 21, 2007 at 23:04 #65924I like Salford Mill in the King Edward VII. The only worry for me is whether he was rushed back for the derby and now will do a Sir Percy.
I think Mi Emma is a cracking price to upset the Beo bandwagon in the 3.45. Hopefully anti-German sentiment will mean this price lengthens.
I’m informed by my trusty "Horse Sense" in the Guardian that Hertstead Maison is the one for the Queen’s Vase, but I think this race looks a lot stronger this year than in previous with a load of unexposed horses set to be suited by the step up in trip.
"Horse Sense" has had a very good week – Royal Oath, Nannina, Winker, Tariq, the Navigator fella – and they tell me to look out for Third Set in the last. He’s not got a good draw by all accounts, but je’s not that far away from a couple of the other principals so could be a good each way bet if the ground stays fast.
June 22, 2007 at 06:25 #65925Hello,
I can see SPICE ROUTE running a big race and DANSILI DANCER, if anything near Haydock form of last year.
However, I am keeping my powder dry for significant punt on SIGNOR PELTRO, 5.30.
OK needs to improve, but can and won’t be hindered by rain. Excellent draw, if not crowded out by the low numbers chasing over. Fergus can take a guide by EDDIE JOCKS running from a similar berth yesterday. Keep calm, up with the pace and straight!:)

June 22, 2007 at 07:36 #659262.30 Yoursothrilling was very impressive last time out but the vibes about this one arent that great with O’brien saying she hasnt done much since. I’m on her for next years guineas at a massive price but today I’ve got to oppose her today with Janina a slightly tentative selection in what looks a wide open race.
15.05 Lucarno impressed me hugely at Epsom and if he can take another race in such a short space of time I think he’ll take this on the way to a Group 1 somewhere down the line.
15.45 This for me is the race of the meeting this year. Finsceal Beo is undoubtedly top class, the same is true of Darjina who if anything should of improved further for only her third run. Mi Emma is an interesting one, visually very impressive but how good that form is is anyones guess. A tentative vote for Darjina as I think she is most likely to improve but the joy of this race is just watching it.
4.20 No Bet
4.55 Mahler looked green to me at £Epsom and O’brien has said since he was very immature. I’ll take him today to have come on for that run and also as one who will improve for further on a more regular track.
5.30 No Bet
June 22, 2007 at 08:01 #65927Limping in here battered and bruised after suffering painful losses yesterday , the Albany looks a two-horse race (the market leaders) to these eyes, and the O’Brien filly is the one entrusted to recover previous losses. If she loses watch out if you’re passing a tall building.
FB would have been the choice but, as someome said, 3 Gr1s in 3 weeks could well have left their mark.
June 22, 2007 at 09:13 #65928FB was my lay of the meeting, for that reason alone. Its not as if shes improved each time
Shes drifting markedly today and the weather is very wet. Not ideal

If Finsceal Beo fails today, it will be because she won’t last home over this stiff mile, to suggest she is over-raced is flying in the face of her actual form, much as it was before her Irish 1,000 Guineas success. However, the overnight rain is not in her favour, and Darjina should be the one to benefit.
Lucarno looks a good bet, can see no reason why he shouldn’t be evens or shorter?
June 22, 2007 at 09:48 #659303.45 MI EMMA is my Ascot banker,i will live and die by her as i mentioned in the “one for Ascot thread“
4.20 STOTSFELD interests me at current price (16.5), im convinced he didnt handle the going last time out and as is typical of a Barathea he should be seen in another light returning to todays faster ground,PURPLE MOON is another who interests me at 25-1, theirs surely better to come now he`s returned to the flat!!
4.55 MAHLER looks an out and out stayer, seems a fair price for one from this stable,HEARTSTEAD MAISON keeps staying on towards the end of his races suggesting this step up in trip could be within his compass,he`s certainly got a bit of class about him for this level so i will “Dutch“ the two!!
5.30 FARJ and SIGNOR PELTRO are trading around the 40`s, the former likes these end to end gallops thus must be of some interest, the latter should come on for debut run and trainer knows what he needs to win such a race!!
Here`s hoping!!
June 22, 2007 at 09:57 #65931Every year I tell myself not to back at Ascot, and every year I do. I cant seem to get my head around it at all. In a twisted way I think I like to punish myself by backing losers there. I think every punter needs one magpie meet to moan about.
Anyway, to get out of the sh*t
3.45 Mi Emma
4.20 Imperial Star
5.30 Trafalgar Bay e/w
June 22, 2007 at 10:09 #65932Mi Emma. Superb performance in German 1000G, recording speed figure only 0.4 sec/mile slower than the average all-aged Group winner in Germany. And that’s after kicking out the obviously slow-run all-aged Group races. Improving, latest reports are she’s bouncing at home. Hard to beat, lack of understanding of her ability/German form in general means price is too high.
June 22, 2007 at 10:24 #65933Why the huge difference in price between, Darjina & Missvinski, there was only a short neck between them the last time they met. With missvinski a tidy listed winner {2yr old} on very soft going, I know where the value lies. Huge price on Betfair. Yaqeen & rahiyah are interesting, Placepot material, and hope the principals get stuffed.
Baffled could run well at a nice price. {albany}
Fancied Lion Sands all week. (king edward} of course pricewise goes and f-ucks it up and tips him. Ladbrokes were only going 7/1 suggests their running scared.
Ashkazar ew value.
Heaven Sent, virtually impossible to keep out of the frame, close to Nap material. {wolferton h/cap)
Darestan {queens vase} is the nap.
Wise Dennis very unlucky last time, nearly impossible to keep out the frame, ew bet to nothing. At tastier prices, check out Fajr & suggestive.
Happy punting, and don’t drink too much, and if you do and lose your stones, and fancy throwing yourself off the nearest river bridge, wait till the tide is up otherwise, you might land in 2 foot of water, and unfortunately survive.:cheesy:
Err, with the odd broken bone or 2.

June 22, 2007 at 10:42 #65934First time i’ve seen that, cheers george.
Looks to run in a similar manner to FB, they may end up battling it out from 2f out with Darjina coming with a late rattle… On BF last night most of the money was for FB and Mi Emma (She was still 5/1 despite the volume of money) so they are taking her on… I was going to back the two against the field. IMO FB is an exceptional filly and if Manning had held on to her longer in the french she would have won. Darjina doesn;t have that same turn of foot and will need a real test to win this.
I’m gonna dutch the two.. I like Rahiyah but I think they should be running her over 10f, same applies to Darjina who won in spite of the distance last time.
June 22, 2007 at 10:52 #65935Anyone know if the going has changed from g/f?
June 22, 2007 at 11:13 #65936I have had a very unusual Ascot. I have had horses placed like Selinka, Duke Of Marmalade, Magnus and Juniper Girl yet I have only had four winners!!! Eddie Jock was great for me yesterday and I see LGR also tipped him though he did put it up here so well done mate.
Todays quite a tough day today. And I will edit this post with my fancies soon.
June 22, 2007 at 11:21 #65937Hello,
I am looking for one that may get a place in the FB Race.
The two I fancy at this stage are INDIAN INK, but Hannon has not hit any form at RA, and SILK BLOSSOM. Again Hills hasn’t been on fire either.
Any thoughts ??
regards,
doyley
