Decent field in prospect as usual for this, and Silver Hallmark looks the obvious favourite to continue Evan Williams good run. Empire Steel definitely overpriced as well at 13-2.
The one I do like though is Lake View Lad. Wasted a couple of pounds on him Antepost already this season, so although tempted, sitting out the 12’s right now. Slowly coming back down the weights, and I thought his seasonal debut at Haydock was an adequate enough prep. His run in The Scottish National, and his win in The Many Clouds is enough for me, and I’d definitely back him once declared.
Lake View Lad
December 23, 2021 at 14:32 #1574126I’ve gone for Empire Steel

December 23, 2021 at 15:53 #1574138160 Windsor Avenue
156 Empire Steel
154 Good Boy Bobby
152 Debece
151 Cloudy Glen
150 Lake View LadA decent event which says a lot about the health of the staying chasing scene in the North.
Windsor Avenue 15/2 has question marks, but his run at Bangor suggests he’s in good nick and winner has since franked the form.
This is just the sort of race I was eyeing up for Empire Steel 13/2 when I put him in my TRF 10 To Follow and I expect him to be right in the mix.

December 23, 2021 at 21:46 #1574203Pleased I waited here, as can get Lake View Lad here at 14’s. I’m happy with that, but would definitely have a wee bit more if I seen bigger.
Empire Steel is the big worry for me, and though a race that’s crying out for one selection only, I feel better covering him too.
Lake View Lad the main one for me though.
Empire Steel 13-2
Lake View Lad 14’sDecember 24, 2021 at 20:17 #1574366Goodboybobby for me
Think 6/1 is very fair
December 24, 2021 at 21:50 #1574383No obivous choice for me here. Maybe Silver Hallmark, but his price seems too short. In the end I’ve decided to go for Cloudy Glen. Obviously a 10 pounds rise is big, but I think winning the Ladbrokes Trophy is strong form.
Cloudy Glen 13/2
December 26, 2021 at 10:07 #1574511Seasons Greetings.
Silver Hallmark and Empire Steel. Ew 4 places.
December 26, 2021 at 11:10 #1574521He’s quite short but I think three miles on a flat left handed track on soft ground is right up Silver Hallmark’s street, and I think he’s graded class.
December 26, 2021 at 13:10 #1574547Top Ville Ben was looking very well before coming down in the Becher. Could be well treated. He’ll be my one, for all I don’t like to abandon Lord Du Mesnil; I think another big day at Haydock awaits him.
