I’ve not had a proper look but have noticed the going report is good to firm which is what he’d want.

I seemed to be in a minority when I stated that I was concerned whether Foundation had trained on this year. His Craven effort looked dismal and then there was the hokey cokey carry on in the Dante, as Frankie jumped ship onto Wings Of Desire, in what we were told was some sort of charity mission to allow Lady Bamford to get some feedback on her colt’s prospects for the future.

The Siberian salt mine sized pinch of NaCl was taken and Foundation was duly body-swerved as his lesser rated stablemate became one of the leading lights for the Derby by winning the Dante. Foundation ran better that day but I wasn’t convinced that he had/has progressed this year. His rating stalled on 110 after he won the Royal Lodge and although he got a less than inspired ride in the Racing Post Trophy and conditions were bad in the Craven, I felt he was quite tame in the finish of both races.

All things considered I felt Foundation was a ropey bet for the French Derby and I highlighted his appalling odds of 4/1F on this forum. He was tailed off last of 16 runners that day in a race where Mekhtaal was my selection and was given a hold up ride, after making all the time before to win easily

That French run has obviously prompted the addition, and removal, of items in order to try to find a way to restart Foundation’s career.

Looking at the race Scottish seems sure to run well but is unappealing to me at the odds. Arab Spring may be fit enough after a lay off but I felt he was best at 12f when last active.

This may be an opportunity for Gabrial to land a group 3 but the Fahey stable are only 8/130 this past two weeks and that is just over 6% in terms of strike rate and half of their annual average. Fire Fighting was third here last year but I suspect he’s a few pounds short of the required class to win this.

Royal Artillery seems to have failed to build on a promising winning debut at two and needs to find a chunk here.

Quite why Bazooka is in this race is a mystery, he’s rated 77 and even at 200/1 makes zero appeal.

Just a race to watch for me.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
