Sad to report that Robo has just been confirmed on RUK as having been put down, following injuries sustained in the novices’ chase at Cheltenham this afternoon.

Renee Robeson’s 5yo collapsed after finishing fourth in the race before getting back to his feet and being led away. However, a tendon injury was discovered and deemed too serious to be able to save him.

A Cadoudal gelding out of a half-sister to Royal Auclair, Robo won a novices’ hurdle at Southwell this time last year, and was seeking a hat-trick in novices’ chases following two wins at Fakenham.

Condolences are extended to all concerned.

You got there marginally ahead of me!

I’vve never backed a fatality in my short punting career but this was a horse I had an unusual affection for. maybe the threads can be merged. It doesn’t matter which is merged to the other.

    Brave horse.

Was sad to hear this as he’d run a very brave race having nearly fallen on the far side. Great shame; I like the Robeson horses.

I was too busy watching what had happened to Bentota (who I saw win a Point) to have noticed the events in the chute.

Bentota was brought back in the horse ambulance. Hope there was better news there.

It’s awful when a horses’ connections think that their horse has come home safe, and lose them. However, I have read that Bentota has a fractured pelvis but is back home and hopefully will be ok. Fingers crossed.
