Am I missing something here? Or are they the least funny “comedy” duo since Ant & Dec?
(NB Liz & Kwasi don’t count)
November 28, 2025 at 19:46 #1745840They do seem to be indulged by the media classes.
As does McPartlin, despite some behaviour which might have got a less favoured person cancelled in our current times..

I’ve never seen any of the Rob & Romesh stuff. They’ve both had their moments in things I’ve seen them in individually but they both have a shtick that gets a bit repetitive.

Undoubtedly true.
It is worth remembering what McPartlin did:

Personally, I do believe in forgiveness and people being entitled to a second chance, especially if they have shown remorse. However, I can’t help feeling that someone who was not as valuable an asset to ITV would have been treated less favourably.
The pair of them have been very lucky to have had such a lucrative career. I never begrudge anyone some luck but McPartlin has been luckier than most.
December 2, 2025 at 08:35 #1746455Very much agreed.
Never any excuse for drink driving whoever you are. I stupidly used to do the right thing and walk home from the same country pubs that others drove from, believe me it’s still rife in rural areas. But someone who can afford to employ a full time driver if he wants to, never mind call a taxi, then it’s particularly poor behaviour.
December 2, 2025 at 08:56 #1746456Romesh seems to be on no end of programmes and I’ve never found him funny so I avoid the ones he does with Rob ( the snippets I have seen weren’t funny) so I’m relieved that it isn’t just me that thinks it as he seems like a nice bloke and I feel guilty about it. I also don’t find the guy who does Taskmaster funny, either.
December 2, 2025 at 09:54 #1746459Maybe it is my age and “modern” humour just doesn’t touch my funny bone but I find very little comedy these days humorous. Bradley Walsh can be a funny bloke but he is from my era.
McPartlin in my opinion should never have been allowed back on television and this has nothing to do with the fact I can’t tolerate him full stop Dec on the other hand I really don’t mind. Jonathan Ross is another who was tolerated after that deplorable telephone stunt with Russell Brand. The more I know the less I understand.
December 2, 2025 at 12:40 #1746466I know what you mean Moe, they seem like nice enough guys and it does feel a bit harsh criticising them. Comedy is subjective and they clearly have an audience so good luck luck to them.
Does work the other way too, I am sure there are people whose work we all admire who are absolutely repugnant, either privately or publicly. Plenty of actors for example are known to be horrible to work with but they keep getting the gigs.
December 2, 2025 at 19:38 #1746495McPartlin isn’t the only ITV “star” to cause a road accident. Holly Willoughby pleaded guilty today to causing a motorcyclist to be knocked off his bike and suffering a fractured neck:

I wonder what will happen now? I get the impression her star is in the descendant at ITV anyway.
It is rumoured she is being considered as the new host for “Strictly Come Dancing”. Maybe it explains why the good old trustworthy BBC decides the motorcyclist’s neck fracture is not worth mentioning:
December 2, 2025 at 22:35 #1746517Not quite sure why they felt the need to quote her car cost £25k it is hardly staggering amount of money.
The more I know the less I understand.
