today I made the mistake of opening up a victor chandler account. I deposited 50 quid then placed a five pound bet, before placing some more bets.
I wondered why I was then only given 5 pounds promo cash money as I was told there was a 25 pound free bet.
when I rang them up, I was told that they only match the first bet, and this was pointed out in the terms and conditions.
typical miserly bookies. why bother to advertise a free bet if they add all these caveats as well? fuming.
February 26, 2013 at 20:07 #430610I think the lesson is to keep a healthy cynicism about these offers and make sure to read the small print. Make sure to play any offer to its maximum effect.

Buyer beware EGS. Size of the first bet matters. Had they given you the full £25 free bet there was nothing to stop you withdrawing the other £45 afterwards. Effectively a free £25 for an investment of a fiver. So I can understand their point of view.
I made a mistake last year with Paddy Power’s Cheltenham offer. They said back anything for the Arkle and they’ll refund all losing bets if Sprinter Sacre wins. I thought this offer superceeded their normal ante-post rules. ie I thought if Sprinter Sacre won I’d get my ante-post bet back whatever else happened. But found out afterwards "normal ante-post bets rules applied". So because Peddlers Cross did not take part it effectively cancelled the Sprinter Sacre offer. I lost my stake money despite Sprinter Sacre winning. Had they made this clear at the time – I would not have had the bet. It was placed on the phone so had no offer rules to read.
Must say I haven’t had any problem with Victor Chandler, although they do not allow me their "best odds guaranteed" offer, I can live with that.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 26, 2013 at 22:53 #430635yeah I see what you mean ginger. they probably have an automated system set up so your account is instantly credited as soon as you place the bet.
anyway thanks guys i’ll be more careful in future.

I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysFebruary 28, 2013 at 01:00 #430740My bookmaker – one of the large net ones – gives me free bets all the time and I never bother with them. Sometimes they ask me why. I say: because you are a typical tightfisted, tricksy bookmaker: I have to play through my winnings on a free bet THREE times before withdrawing the cash. I mean **** OFF! It shows they are for the most part dealing with idiots if this reels them in.
February 28, 2013 at 09:53 #430752I had a phone call from bet365 a while ago.
You haven’t had a bet with us for a while, they told me they would give me a free bet if I answered a few questions. I wasn’t in any hurry so said ok. 10 minutes later after a load of nonsense questions this woman says now for your free bet, all you have to do is deposit a tenner.
No thanks.
