"Rio De La Plata, Fast Company and Ibn Khaldun will all be trained for the Guineas. Maybe one will go to France or Ireland but no decisions will be made until the end of March" – Simon Crisford, 14 Jan 2008
[on Rio De La Plata]"….HE’S THE BEST [JUVENILE] WE’VE HAD SINCE DUBAWI AND IS THE REAL DEAL. He’ll have his [FAST] ground on too" – Simon Crisford, 15 Sept 2007
Sounds like they rated Rio De La Plata as their number one last year and with him having a bit more physical scope than Ibn Khaldun I would speculate that he’d just come out ahead of that rival as a 3yo.
Whether one or either is good enough to beat New Approach, Fast Company or Raven’s Pass is another matter. At 29/1 RDLP has to be worth a punt, surely?
February 27, 2008 at 12:24 #146810That was my opinion Libretist, he is more likely to get the sound surface he needs at Newmarket than Longchamp too.
I am worried about a possible setback that has not come out yet (a la exotic Dancer). Then again, Godolphin are usually good at keeping the public informed, unlike Jonjo and his team.Ginge
February 27, 2008 at 13:08 #146820You have persuaded me mate, 29/1 now gone but taken a bit of 27/1. Can blame you now Libretist if he does not make it there
.Ravens Pass is the main bet.
Hope it does not come up soft at Newmarket, otherwise I am sunk!

February 27, 2008 at 14:35 #146852On good ground or faster, Ravens Pass will be a formidable opponent for anything that turns up for the Guineas. The one to beat for me.
March 15, 2008 at 00:02 #151342I started tucking into RP in January. He`ll be hard to beat on decent ground.
