May 15, 2024 at 14:22 #1694361Can’t leave out Frankie Dettori and
Inspiral sprouting wings and powering home in the Breeders Cup Fillies and Mares Turf last year.
She helped me win the BC Comp and I have a lovely picture of her in my study courtesy of Cormack.
Have to decide nearer the time.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 15, 2024 at 14:57 #1694365David Bass rode 20/1 shot Does He Know in the Grimthorpe on what was considered unsuitable soft ground, against many experienced opponents who much-preferred the going.
Oh yes, with 12 stone, top weight, given all but one of his rivals a stone.
Seven out, Bass jumped past the leader Half Shot and kicked on. They all cried off, one-by-one, until only a progressive horse that was considered a handicap snip, Some Scope, receiving 24 lbs, remained at the third-last.
Sheehan brought Some Scope alongside between 3 and 2 out, but Does He Know pulled away with a good jump at the penultimate fence and a brilliant leap, gaining two lengths, at the last. Then stayed on strongly to win by over 3 lengths.
OK, it’s not going to grab the glory by being an eyecatcher like Townsend on Absurde in the County, but that performance was National Hunt racing, for me. Brilliant work.
