Possibly quite possibly the worst peice of riding I think I have ever seen in 25 years.
Easily got the best horse in the race beat.
Second only to Stephen Donoghue at Brighton on the odds on fav today (cant remember its name)
Really doesnt take much to be a jockey I guess these days
April 20, 2010 at 18:40 #291355Did you back it?

Joncol,
You should say that the Jamie Codd, he has been taken to hospital with a suspected collapsed lung.

Getting hurt is obviously regrettable and I am wish him the very best, fingers crossed he is ok.
But my comment around how it doesnt take much to be a jockey is not questioning the toughness or bravry of a jockey but more so the talent, there is a difference.
A jockey can be extremely brave and fearless but still be talentless..

No Crizzy, I dont back horses. Gave up when the exchanges start to become big. Has ruined the sport in my view and certainly puts into question some of the efforts we see on the racetrack when looking at certain drifts…
I just feel the exchanges have ruined the sport as a betting proposition.
Having said that I still love the sport as a spectacle but as for betting it aint for me, far easier ways to make money without having to worry about connections…
April 20, 2010 at 19:15 #291366What exactly was wrong with the ride in your opinion Joncol?

April 20, 2010 at 19:42 #291371I’ve watched the race a couple of times and I’m still confused.
What is he supposed to have done wrong?
April 20, 2010 at 19:51 #291373Joncol , perhaps we were watching 2 different races ,,I have just come back from the meeting , as anyone could see the horse just did not get home
perhaps you should take up a new hobby , as this one just isint working ….no offence meant or intended

April 20, 2010 at 19:55 #291375What was wrong with Donohoe’s ride other than the horse getting to the front too soon and idling? This happens every week in racing. Deal with it

I agree with you Ricky, the horse was sent on to win, and just was not good enough.

April 21, 2010 at 08:46 #291460Owned by the trainer – will have gone there with a big ‘For Sale’ sign round its neck – beaten by two better horses. Let’s move on.
April 21, 2010 at 09:07 #291465how come it has a title "richard johnson towcester bumper"?/////////
cant really see any excuses for sedgwick, other than hitting the front abit too soon imo.

So that’s the TWO worst rides in the last 25 years then. Both on the same day. Go figure.
Mike
April 21, 2010 at 12:12 #291501Donoghue isn’t even the worst ride at Brighton ever. Step forward Travis Block
April 21, 2010 at 13:48 #291513If you’re going to slate a jockey at least have the decency to spell his name correctly.
It’s Steve Donohoe – not Stephen, not Donaghue.
And there was nothing wrong with the ride either.

Actually, Mr Donohoe has requested to be called "Stevie" as of the start of the season, to the best of my knowledge. It’s a rum business, and no mistake, Al. I can call you Al, can’t I?
