Of course i’m biased – 20/1 Indian Ink indeed
Are you still celebrating that Peruvian Chief?

As TAPK guessed the rain came down heavily that day and punters jumped aboard Indian Ink like rats leaping for the Ark. SP closer to 8/1 and that was overs.

Ah here a small bit OTT???
Whilst it was a very very good ride its hardly the best youve ever seen surely?
It was basically a two horse race and whilst both Moore and Hughes rode brilliant races its hardly a contender for ride of the season yet alone lifetime?????
Hughes will probably be first to admit that riding Canford Cliffs is a lot easier than riding most other horses as he is so talented and basically does everything Hughes asks i.e quickens when he presses the button.

By the way Im not taking away from the fact is was a good ride.
I just think the best rides are those we see on horses who are less co operative and take much more effort.
I don’t think the best rides usually come in Group Ones on brilliant horses such as RIP and Canford Cliffs..
July 31, 2010 at 10:59 #310177A great American jockey was asked what he thought of Willie Shoemaker. I can get out of the gate quicker. I can find a better place in a race, I can change my hands faster, use the whip better, do everything better than Shoemaker. But horses run faster for Shoemaker! Go figure.
July 31, 2010 at 11:18 #310181I’ve always been a big fan, fantastic jockey, as is Spencer for all the criticism he gets. Spencer is having a quiet season, Hughes is flying. However good a jockey they can’t do it without the horses and Hannon’s yard has been in unbelievable form all season. Hughes must be living a dream right now.
July 31, 2010 at 11:36 #310182Yes that was the day Kingy, as Chiswickian has confirmed. What a day, i remember almost drooling when i flicked oddschecker on in the morning.
July 31, 2010 at 12:18 #310187The form man.
July 31, 2010 at 18:31 #310253Outstanding performances by Hughes and Hannon this week, particularly in 2 year old races.
They won all of them, bar 2 maidens won by Pabusar and Mortitia. Former race they were second, latter race 4th.
Champagne, Richmond and Molecomb all went their way, 2 maidens and 2 Nurserys.
Well done all the team at Everleigh and Collingborne.

RICHARD HUGHES
broke the record for the most winners at a Glorious Goodwood when securing his ninth victory of the week in the meeting’s penultimate race.
Eucharist’s victory in the 6f nursery was the second leg of a double on the final day of a meeting that saw Hughes win Group races on Canford Cliffs, Zebedee, King Torus and Libranno. It’s no wonder he took that week off a fortnight ago to ensure he would not be suspended.
Lester Piggott, Kieren Fallon and Johnny Murtagh were the joint holders of the previous riders’ record, with eight winners.
The record-breaking victory was no breeze as 10-3 favourite Eucharist was hampered in the final furlong before going on to beat Majestic Myles by a neck.
Hughes said: "I have to thank all the lads and Richard Hannon’s yard for making it all possible.
"We just got a bump in the race but she ran on great and it’s a fantastic feeling."
All nine winners were saddled by Richard Hannon, who smashed the preious record for a trainer at Glorious Goodwood of six, held by Sir Michael Stoute since 1989. The trainer broke through the 50-mark of Glorious Goodwood winners when King Torus won the Vintage Stakes on Wednesday.
Hannon was full of praise for his stable jockey – and son-in-law – afterwards. He told Racing UK: "He’s different gear isn’t he? He gets them balanced and they run for him.
"Of course, I have the best retainer as he’s married to my daughter!"

EucharistAugust 1, 2010 at 15:30 #310411No argy bargy,no cutting off, no trying for closing gaps, no cutting across to the rail, no desperation to ride a winner.Just take the horse to daylight and let him run.Credit it to age, experience or fear of suspension but he is riding like a senior jockey now and it is paying off. Good luck Hughesie.
