L’Homme Presse was my long term fancy for The Gold Cup, and given his conditions, I think he’s a cracking horse. Big weight here, but he’s earned it.
Just behind him on the betting is prolific winner Into Overdrive, and he screams to me a horse who’s got one big prize, at the very least, still in him.
The Galloping Bear is very popular on here for Aintree, and I can see why. Connections will be looking for some compensation after being stripped of The Haydock National Trial, and I think he looks way overpriced on last seasons form, though there’s always the chance that they’ll not want to burst his mark for Aintree.
Dallas Des Pictons is way below his best these days, but just the type of race where I can see him surprising, while potential Irish Raider, Real Steel, looks a winner waiting to happen on this seasons runs.
The one who’s giving me the biggest headache, is an old favourite of mine, Dingo Dollar, and from a yard I’ve bleated on about more than enough. I don’t want an Antepost in this, and his odds of 25’s must strongly hint at him not going, but I just can’t let that go. A pound higher for his third in this last year, where I was a bit disappointed at the time, but I’ll take the risk at these odds.
Dingo Dollar 25’s EW
November 23, 2022 at 22:27 #1624306I’m going to stick with Aye Right here, and I’ve taken the 8-1.
The Galloping Bear is my big Grand National hope, so I don’t want him to win this, but I will cover him too if he runs.

L’Homme Presse
Aye Right
Happygolucky
Dingo Dollar
Windsor Avenue
The Big Bite
Whoshotthesherrif
Dallas des Pictons
Into OverdriveA big performance from L’Homme Presse under top weight wouldn’t surprise anyone but Kim Bailey has his string in good order and i think i’ll be siding with Happygolucky on the day if he’s a decent e/w price on course.
November 24, 2022 at 11:58 #1624346Into Overdrive looks like being the one here, but will L’Homme Presse look obvious after the event? I’ll go with him even off of top weight.
Dallas Des Pictons for the ew money at bigger prices
November 24, 2022 at 21:49 #1624400The Big Bite first try at 3miles. Not the most consistent horse, but if he does get it right on the day and stays the trip, he might be of interest.
The Big Bite 33/1 EW
November 26, 2022 at 10:18 #1624548The Big Bite for me as well at 28-1 ew, but as much as I’m probably better off with just one selection here, and I’ve had a smaller win bet on Windsor Avenue at 25-1. You just don’t know what your going to get with that horse
November 26, 2022 at 14:20 #1624664L’Homme Presse doesn’t need to win this to still be a player in the Gold Cup, but I believe he is the real deal and could prove too good. It will not be easy though and fair play to connections for tackling this.
From a betting perspective; I will look at Aye Right for each way purposes.
November 26, 2022 at 14:21 #1624667Happygolucky and at bigger Windsor avenue e.w … I feel dirty deserting Dingo Dollar
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 26, 2022 at 15:36 #1624712A really good sit by Charlie Deutsch and the horse coped with the mistake without losing his rhythm or jumping badly at the next. I don’t think he’ll win the gold cup but he certainly won’t disgrace himself.
