I remember Admiral’s Well coming 2nd in the Ebor sometime in the early 90s and he also had the winner of the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club Trophy also early or mid 90s. That race was quite a decent handicap at that time. I think nowadays it would fall under the category “Heritage Handicap”.
He was feared at that time and I didn’t realize he was already 60+ when I started following racing on a daily basis.
Fire Top RHK JC trophy in 92 , a meeting I always tried to get to , was a good days racing . That was a tough handicap to find winner back in day .
