2015 was a record year for revenues for ATR.

Had a quick look at BARB – don’t understand it exactly, but ATR had 119,000 average daily reach as opposed to RUK’s 18,000.

Pretty big difference there.
February 12, 2016 at 09:47 #1233295You could argue do the racecourse really care about atr viewers in the same way does a Championship club want Sky to have large numbers for a match when people could go and attend and pay through the gate.
The reason courses are leaving is internal politics, Leicester and Stratford are loyal to SIS and SIS have signed a deal with RUK in bookmakers shops.
ATR has an uncertain future and RUK is seen as stable (excuse the pun).
ATR could use these figures as an incentive but then again we do not know what RUK is giving back to it’s racecourses it could be a lot more.
RUK bosses know what courses they are after, take Ascot for example using QUIPCO as an excuse to bring them on board, signing up to SIS to attract courses like Leicester and make ATR’s future look uncertain.
Don’t ever underestimate RUK and the Jockey Club, they run racing and they know it
