I was thinking the other day, Cheltenham weekend, that I hadn’t seen many of her runners this season. I have just noticed she’s had a big priced winner on the flat but this was her first runner for nearly 2 weeks. 3-4 years ago she was going to be the best thing to happen for female trainers in a long while. What’s happened?
November 28, 2017 at 15:54 #1329232Not only that Homer – have you seen how many of her former charges have been totally revived/improved by other trainers this year?
The Romford Pele, Bob Ford, Red Devil Lads, Braquer D’Or, Doing Fine, Audacious Plan, Minella On Line, Kilcullen Flem, Pickamix…
That’s never a good sign, especially when people like Alistair Raph and Emmet Mullins are improving your horses.
November 28, 2017 at 16:22 #1329239Racing pulse is another ex Curtis horse to keep an eye on. Now with Willie Mullins
November 28, 2017 at 16:25 #1329240I think Aurillac (David Pipe) and Binge Drinker (Paul Nicholls) are interesting as well – neither have run for their new yards yet.
November 28, 2017 at 16:41 #1329242Cheers LS3. The two I noticed was Bob Ford who won on Good (thought he needed a bog) but his mark was probably so low he could have won on anything that day. And then to reiterate my thoughts the other day, Red Devil Lads, who I was surprised to see winning in Ireland. I’d given up on him.
Maybe O’faolains Boy and Irish Cavalier are 2 others who need a move to kick start their careers.
November 28, 2017 at 16:43 #1329243……or Bob Ford in The Welsh National
November 28, 2017 at 16:45 #1329244Sorry Homer, our posts crossed over there. I’d love to see Cavalier back, but that looked a bad injury last year. Shame, as he was a real favourite of mine.
November 28, 2017 at 16:49 #1329245JP McManus is a very loyal owner and doesn’t often move them around but Mystical Knight and Geordie Des Champs would become very interesting if they switched to another yard as well.

Sorry Bobby didn’t know about the injury. I knew he was one of your faves. It was a complete surprise to me when he won the CH at Wetherby last season. I’d backed him in the Paddy Power the previous season when Townend came there with a double handful but then he didn’t get up the hill.
November 28, 2017 at 17:26 #1329251Does anyone know how Irish Cavalier is now? Red Devil Lads was a sickener the other day when he won at 28/1 because it was only after the race that I realised who he was and how good he’d been. I’ve got to give up on O’Faolains Boy at some point; I’ll let everyone know when that is because that’s the day he’ll win.
November 29, 2017 at 18:36 #1329410Sad news if the yard has indeed gone downhill. Would give grist to the mill of all the sexists that still predominate in racing

I read that he had screws put in a hindlimb fracture but don’t know how it went after that.
November 29, 2017 at 20:52 #1329433Her and her partner have split, and he was a big influence in the buying of the horses (not sure if he trained partly as well)……(edited-cormack)

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 30, 2017 at 11:57 #1329495Rebecca has been struggling for at least a few years now. If her partner has left then may be some owners have gone because of that; but am sure she’s a capable trainer. Doesn’t have the numbers she did so isn’t going to have the number of winners she used to. But even before that seems to me her winners came in batches more than most trainers and the last few seasons gone long periods in the wilderness without a winner. So strongly suspect she’s had a particularly pervasive virus in the yard that although disappears at times, comes back again and again. With the money involved can’t blame owners getting fed up with the poor runs of form and moving their horses. If it is a virus problem my advice to Rebecca would be to sell up and move to another yard, might bring a change in fortune.
Fortunately there are distinct signs whatever ailed the stable is (at least temporarily) over the bad spell – generally running better. I’ve been staying clear of her runners for a while because of “trainer form”, but if having a runner right now it wouldn’t put me off.
Value Is EverythingNovember 30, 2017 at 16:45 #1329530Another couple ran like dogs today, wouldn’t put a penny on any of hers for now
November 30, 2017 at 20:17 #1329547Plenty of rumours doing the rounds on the racecourse. Great shame.
December 6, 2017 at 14:39 #1330652Dr Newland with the doubleslap to Curtis today – his former Curtis inmate Audacious Plan just repelling her Relentless Dreamer in a tight finish at Ludlow.
