Rishi Persad is employed by his employers on his merits or lack of them his ethnicity has nothing to do with it
Your opinion dressed as fact.
and should not be mentioned in this context
I’ll mention what I want thanks!
I think you need to accept this point and move on.
Do you? I don’t.

July 3, 2013 at 16:51 #444733And its your racist and highly patronising opinion dressed as fact that Persad only got his job because he is non white….a plainly silly conclusion to jump to ….can’t you see how insulting it is?
Any other non white people on TV that you think are ‘being done favours?’ as you posted ( no bad thing)
………..I’m sure they’re all eternally grateful for your tolerance.July 3, 2013 at 22:03 #444758And its your racist and highly patronising opinion dressed as fact that Persad only got his job because he is non white
It’s not ‘dressed as fact’, it is merely my opinion. I base that on a rational belief that Persad is such a modest broadcaster, he is unlikely to have landed a plum job with virtually no experience if he had been white. You seem to have no rational reason for your opinion that that is not the case. I’ve also stated that I find this quite a positive thing as far as racing is concerned.
a plainly silly conclusion to jump to
No, it’s a perfectly rational conclusion based on the evidence presented.
can’t you see how insulting it is?
I can, yes. But that doesn’t make it more or less credible.
Any other non white people on TV that you think are ‘being done favours?’
No.

July 4, 2013 at 03:58 #444769wftw, where are you getting this ‘racist’ thing from?
I don’t agree with those who say Rishi is mediocre: I think he’s very competent, a solid safe pair of hands. He’s no star but there are very few out there. He’s miles more professional and polished, imo, than Tom Lee and Tanya.
Yes, he can be bland – I criticised him on twitter for resorting to the ‘how does it feel?’ line, but had responses from a few pros than many directors compel presenters to ask that question.
Anyway,I like the guy and I think he’s pretty good at his job. But I can easily accept the suggestion that someone might have wanted him as much to fill some perceived demographic ‘need’ as for his ‘talent’. It would hardly be a first in the media for that to happen – ‘a token woman’ used to be the cry.
But a media exec recruiting for political purposes…where is the racism in assuming that is what happened?

Excrutiating wasn’t it. Especially when he bizarrely crow-barred a lame ‘Hair-Dryer’ Fergie gag in to it, which Murray understandably looked perplexed at.
If Kevin Keegan attends the Semi’s, Richardson will no doubt ask Murray if he "Loved It" should he be victorious.

+1! That was quite amusingly bad. Didn’t Richardson ask Murray (who just fought back from 2 sets down to win) whether his coach would be justified in shouting at him for such a ‘lack of effort’?

It was while he was desperately trying to get a Fergie reference in. It fell flatter than a witches tit, and Murray was understandably perplexed.
Are these morons really the best that our License Fee’s can afford? Jesus H Christ, why isn’t that sharp fella who used to be on Gazzetta used? Is it James Richardson? He was of Stelling-esque quality, what is he up to nowadays?
Garth Crooks, Rishi Persad, Alan Shearer, Garry Richardson, Martin Keown – shockingly bad. Its a joke.
July 4, 2013 at 21:21 #444800‘Racism in Racing’……..Its not a topic that gets covered really, unlike Football which according to the media is rife. What I have noticed over the past 30yrs though is the amount of Grooms (Politically correct word for Stable lads/lasses) that are of an ethnic background, most yards these days have ‘coloured’ staff but in those 30yrs of studying Horseracing I have never seen these people progress any further than doing what Stable staff do.I dont recall any becoming Trainers, nor even Trainers assistants for that matter!Just an observation.
July 4, 2013 at 23:32 #444811I much prefer Rishi over Richardson, a man whose ego far outweighs his talent. I never cared for the bloke since I saw a newsclip where he bullied a ‘foreign’ reporter who was interviewing someone, GR pushed him aside to get at the sportsman bawling something like ‘I’m with the BBC you know!’
July 5, 2013 at 05:25 #444814I wonder if Gary Richardson only got his job because he is white?
In fact just like some on here I don’t wonder I totally take it as read that he did.
( becuase it is inconcievable isn’t it that he could have got it for any other reason)July 5, 2013 at 10:06 #444826I wonder if Gary Richardson only got his job because he is white?

July 6, 2013 at 05:21 #444896Because I’m in absolutely no doubt that Richardson was appointed to his position at the BBC due to his ethnicity, simply because he is a pretty anodyne presenter who brings nothing original to the table. Had he been non white it’s highly unlikely he would have been acquired, precisely for those reasons.
July 6, 2013 at 07:45 #444899For me the best person for the job to add a bit of fun and enthusiasm would be Anthony Knott, now there’s a thought…..

I think you’ll find that positive discrimination only really applies to minority communities, but believe what you must.
