Saturday sees what I assume is a first for racing in that there will be two meetings at the same track on Saturday.
The first meeting branded ‘Southwell at Wolverhampton’ sees the re-arranged fibresand fixture take place during the afternoon.
An hour after the final afternoon race, Wolverhampton’s evening meeting kicks off.
I can imagine that there is plenty of potential for chaos with racegoers and horses from the afternoon meeting departing whilst the ones for the evening meeting are arriving.
I’m also not sure whether the course is allowing afternoon racegoers to remain on the course for the evening. Presumably not in the case of people booking the restaurant. It will be interesting to see how they police ejecting the afternoon racegoers.
Anyone know how this is going to work in practice?
December 10, 2012 at 10:23 #422261A quick look at the Wolverhampton website reveals that they are granting admission for the whole day at £10 for the Grandstand and £20 for the Premier enclosure.

December 10, 2012 at 10:31 #422262Crap racing followed by more crap racing. Yippee!
Value Is EverythingDecember 10, 2012 at 11:09 #422266Have a day off Ginge, there is plenty of crap over the jumps as well. I’m not bothered either way, got to have somewhere to run and it all keeps the ball rolling, this isn’t Hong Kong.
Will be interesting to see how it goes down, don’t they have some mammoth cards at the likes of Deauville on the pollytrack? seems to work there OK.

Wasn’t exactly a serious comment tb. Just saying it doesn’t interest me because (presumably) it is low class racing. I’d feel the same way if it were low class jump racing. But I am sure it’ll interest some people; so it’s fine really. Enjoy.

I’m a cup of tea short this morning, don’t mean to be so hasty.the 2.10 at Lingfield today is far from lacking quality, Hill Streets form in maidens have a lot of strength amongst them and he could be pretty useful, he should show the Cambridgeshire the 4th the way to go at least

Value Is EverythingDecember 10, 2012 at 13:50 #422278We’ve marked the occasion by entering both of our horses. One major mug’s double coming up
December 10, 2012 at 16:09 #422286There is plenty ‘crap’ racing in HK too. They may have rules about what they can import, but obviously plenty still regress to the very bottom of the barrel too. Quite rightly they still write races for them.
December 10, 2012 at 17:36 #422293There was a 14 race card at Hereford in the 1970s, which as far as I know is a modern-day record. This is due to be equalled this Saturday and broken on Friday January 4th 2013, when another double header due to Southwell being out of commission sees 15 races programmed.
December 10, 2012 at 19:52 #422308What an awful waste of time and money zzzzzzz
December 10, 2012 at 19:56 #422309Given that most of my tipping competition winners have been in all-weather handicaps then I can live with it. Bring it on!

Which is a good offer if you happen to like AS racing

Perhaps they’re trying to avoid paying for a second commentator

I’m sure Glenn would argue that it is a ploy to avoid paying out e/w on the first three when each race has a couple of non runners
