He absolutely rattled them. 20s for the derby dosen’t look so bad now.
October 24, 2009 at 14:42 #255088Not even touched with the WHIP!!!!!!!!
MONSTER!!!!!!!!!
October 24, 2009 at 14:42 #255089Looked a very smart prospect when he won last time out, but this was a huge leap and he has altered my opinion on him regarding the Guineas.
He gave them all a headstart before unleashing a real turn of foot. This wasn’t an average field, quite the opposite. This horse made them look average.
With the likes of Arcano and Xtension in opposition, the Guineas is really something to look forward to.

There was absolutely no pace for the first five furlongs and St Nicholas Abbey’s turn of foot has proved the decisive factor. I’d be far more interested in the winner for the Guineas after that performance.
Elusive Pimpernel, who wouldn’t have been at all suited by the lack of pace, comes out as the stronger Derby candidate for me.
October 24, 2009 at 14:51 #255097That was ultra impressive. He’d probably have won even easier had they gone a faster pace.
Triple Crown next year??
October 24, 2009 at 15:04 #255105This is embarrsing….Ballydoyle have
Cape Blanco (Galileo)
Steinbeck(Footsteps)
St Nick(Montjeu)
Fencing Master/Beethoven( Oratorio). They have 4 new sires already for there catalogue…..
Oh Shiekh Mo Chabal, Kingsoft,Delegtor, Evasive and that American Filly.
There is no comparsion between both operations its chalk and cheese

You love Ballydoyle, Wallace, we get it.
October 24, 2009 at 15:21 #255110I love Ballydoyle….
I think AL Zir would clean up in America. Maybe a move across state side would not be out of the equation as he ran a very solid race in defeat. He has the potential to win those triple crown races.
Its clear they wont be able to beat ST Nick so why not move stateside.
October 24, 2009 at 15:36 #255113How about JanVermeer(Montjeu), Midas Touch(Galileo) and Flying Cross(Sadler’s Wells); just to name a few of the local ones.

Well needless to say I’m just a wee bit happy with that.
With all the bets I have on at 25’s and 20’s who wouldn’t be they’re talking 5/2 and 3/1 now which is nuts really…I said 2 minutes after he won his first race he would win the Derby and he reminded me of Mastercraftsman with wings…..guess at the price he is we’ll have to chancge that to Sea the Stars with wings at that priceSurely we can’t have another Sea the Stars this soon?
For the racing post itself I kept hearing about Elusive Pipernel on Timeform radio and how you had to back it but couldn’t understand the logic behind that after beating Hannon’s (Not the highest in the pecking order by a long way) by only a neck.
Personally I don’t think it was the great race they tried to make it out to be but St Nick was a league above them but 3/1 for the Derby at this stage is a joke.
On the down side I suppose AOB might run him in the Guineas against my bet Canford Cliffs but I have a feeling he won’t. He’s already talking 1m2f then the Derby and he mmay not wan’t to risk him gainst real speedy milers.
The Racing Post is not a Guineas trial, it’s full of Derby hopefuls…..while he has bags of speed he’s bred for further and he’d find the 2000 Guineas a different ball game today, depite the pace being slow.
Pretey ordinary race won by a very good horse
October 24, 2009 at 15:40 #255116Andy its geting crazy and this stage.
Another decent 2yr old prize is on Monday in Ireland, Killavullan Stakes.
looks like we may see Fighting brave/Steinbeck/Midas Touch in that one.
I think Midas Touch looks the one for there unless they only give Steinbeck a 2 week turnaround but thats unlikely
October 24, 2009 at 15:45 #255118Fist its very easy in Hindsight to say its a weak race but i dont believe that.
I just believe was saw a Superb Winner….there is no reason why he can’t win the Guineas.
The only reason they may not go for the 2000 Guineas is that they have so many other horses that could win the race.
Cant wait to have a luck at the time he ran the final furlong in compared to Crowded House last year.
There plenty in that field for me to warrant it a very good race.
Time will tell
October 24, 2009 at 15:49 #255119Visually impressive but not a performance I will be getting carried away with.
Shortest Derby favourite since Celtic Swing and we know what happened there!
October 24, 2009 at 15:52 #255120Along with Fist i said he win the derby after he won his debut also i got him at 25 and 20 as well.
But what a performance he took them apart very easy it was but he will be better next year which is the best thing about him.A top class horse
October 24, 2009 at 16:14 #255126A very good performance from the winner, its a shame he wont go for the guineas i think he would def be in the 1st 3.As far as the derby goes he looks the most likely winner but they do have a few more unexposed ones at ballydoyle. He looks a quality horse who ozes class lets hope he winters well he ones to look forward to very much.
October 24, 2009 at 16:27 #255127Dancing David ran into fourth so I’m geeting on Tamaathul as my e/w ante post Derby bet but I may have to request a price.
October 24, 2009 at 16:51 #255131By my calculations he ran 13 sec in the 7th and 11 sec in the 8th furlong.
So while most where being pushed along he was quicking up with out any movement from the jockey and did this naturally.
That is just amazing cruising speed. So he can cruise the same pace as horses being asked for maximum effort.
