Tried to log on on my daughter’s computer this morning, and was told the site was inaccessible without loading IE7.
I did what I’m sure hundreds of others have, and went to the Sporting Life site instead. I’ll return to the RP when I get home, but how many others will say "fff…forget it".
Not value, even for free. A total disaster.

Oh dear … as of 13:55 no access whatsoever possible to racingpost.com. Yet another terminal server glitch. Sigh….

Fundamentally, the techies (as always) have disastrously underestimated the burden on the servers that their damnable Flash animations cause. Usability and functionality were already severely compromised by the poor design, even before the inevitable server problems set in.

As they’ve now diverted all access to the old racingpost.co.uk main page through to the new site, they are shooting themselves in the foot big time if they expect to lure people into paying for their service at all. The pullout of praise for the new site is mendacious in the extreme: I’ll wager for ever "wow!" they’ve had 100 "woefuls!"

Whichever Racing Post executive who has been project managing this debacle really ought – as they say – to be considering his position. Seriously. Now.

I am in agreement with many others. Have just tried the new RP site, downloading IE7 etc, and first impressions are awful! Is Raceform Interactive going to be only alternative now? Is this the idea, were we getting too much for free? :(

Ok, so I’ve just spent half an hour with one of my Firefox tabs trying to load a simple racecard from racingpost.com.

I’m in agreement about the flash banners – I have a Firefox plug-in which automatically blocks them and gives me the option of playing them or not – and they’ll have to iron out the issues about speed.

    But….

Am I the only one who likes it?

Thought the old site really needed a makeover. Once they get over the teething problems, it’s still going to be the best racing site on the web by a distance.

I don’t know, it’s so slow I gave up trying to check the site out. While you expect teething problems the site is currently imo not fit for purpose and should never have gone live.

I will download firefox 3 and see if that is any better but not holding my breath.

I’ve downloaded the Ad-blocker Add-On thing for Firefox 3. Blocked all the Banners, Ads etc and it’s working fine. The speed is pretty good.

Maybe it did maybe it didn’t but we have all experienced sites that have had a makeover and if done properley it is transparent, so we don’t feel totally alienated when using it.

Gareth Flynn does not work for the RP Firefox, and even if he did, he is in no way obliged to come here to explain anything.

There was a guy on Talking Horses called Gareth Flynn who I think worked for the RP website – only guessing here but he sometimes seemed to refer to it in the way an employee would.

Maybe he should come on and let us know wtf its all about?

    Truly bizarre.

Imagine trying to use the site with a stinking hangover :?

Perhaps Gareth would be able to explain how

    Firefox

I tried emailing the RP at the address you’ve put up – info@racingpost.com – but the message came back as undeliverable! Maybe they are getting too many adverse comments.

Grasshopper’s Quick Capsule review of new RP site:

    Sh*it.

I notice that the old site address is now on redirect to the new one too, so it’s fully scunnered.
