Fecking hell Flash, ccaaallmmmm dddooowwwnn! I think it’s a lovely photo!
I’m a cynic I don’t do trust lol. I have a naturally suspicious mind.
Flash, you look like a Train Driver sat on his aris, doing nothing in the mess-room
Lol. You got the "sitting on his aris doing nothing" bit right.
March 18, 2008 at 19:12 #152387hi petsky .can you tell me of hand howe many top rated winners the r/p had at chelt? i can tell you timeform gave 5 top rated winners /plus one that they spoke about and just short of being top rated that you would have backed at 9/1 . yes it cost more but i showed a nice profit thankou
March 18, 2008 at 19:37 #152396Seem very open to me Flash. Seeing your photo had got me thinking, maybe we need photo’s of everyone to make the place more hospitable.
Or it could frighten people off – we are something of a motley crew…
March 18, 2008 at 19:59 #152408Personally I don’t use ratings, the point I was trying to make, is that the Racing Post would not be the only people charging for use of a website, and I was giving Timeform as an example. With regards to £10 a month, when you are used to spending that a week on the newspaper version, I would be over the moon to pay £10 a month, if the content was the same online.
March 18, 2008 at 21:30 #152443It is hard to believe there are people stupid enough to want to pay for something that is free. I buy the Racing Post every day and that’s enough for me. You could argue the paper itself is already expensive enough at more than three times the cost of a daily newspaper and even more expensive than lavish sunday supplements. After they have handed out free subscriptions to those in the industry I can’t see too many others being interested. The whole idea is just great news for ATR.
March 19, 2008 at 08:10 #152498RP pushes even further to create more information, more data, more details of everything racing and breeding and in return we pay the 10 pound a month. Seems fair – I would not live without it.
March 19, 2008 at 11:19 #152536the problem is with the r/p not only do you have to pay for the racing in it but also the dogs &football i"m only interesed in the horse racing. why should i have to pay £2-30 for up to 100 pages of rubbish.what i dont mind paying is the present 20p for one meeting and thats about all i"m willing to pay.full stop!
March 21, 2008 at 20:44 #153212Just now, I’d happily hand over a one-off cash payment if they would get rid of the *!#@**# *!#@**# advert with the van-door-slamming-and-starting-up sound effect…

Ha ha ha, yeah its a pain in the arse when you got music on your headphones. Suddenly gets interupted by a revving engine.
March 22, 2008 at 09:08 #153254Non Vintage says :- Next thing we know, the government will be trying to stop the working classes from being able to drink alcohol!
Well, they managed to stop them smoking so can`t be all bad
I wouldn`t mind paying for the racing post website if Data was available earlier.
I guess some people would like to see the whole paper available online, personally, i don`t read their tipping sections but i like reading some of the funnier journalists like David Ashworth and Clement Fraud!!
All in all…………………im used to paying for things thus i wouldn`t object if the price was reasonable!
March 22, 2008 at 10:11 #153260From a purely commercial point of view I can’t see them charging.
Revenue from gambling advertising is huge, and it might be surprising to people on here bit I would suspect the reduction in advertising revenue due to the reduction in unique visitors by charging, would be considerably more than the additional revenue they would receive from subscribers.
So in net terms they would be worse off.
March 22, 2008 at 10:52 #153267i’d pay a tenner just to see what craig theak from ten year trends tips so i can remove the horse from my short list.
November 26, 2008 at 15:50 #9428It really looks a piece of junk.
No point doing all this fancy stuff if the basics ain’t right.
The navigation of the racecards is appalling.
Click on Chepstow to get the races, then click on the first race. Now how do you get to another race from here?
Click the back button to get back to the race list except that takes you back to the first page so you have to start all over and click Chepstow again.
The appearance looks a step backwards with the form figures jammed under the race card number and RPR and Topspeed on top of each other instead of their own columns.
I haven’t delved any deeper than this to see if there are any other horrors lurking.
This must be about the third time in five years that the RP have revamped the website, except they seem to change things for the sake of change and in the process get rid of the good bits as well as trying to improve the bad.
And if this is how it’s going to be I shall miss being able to display a whole meetings cards on one page.
November 26, 2008 at 16:12 #192286I checked out the new site for the first time this morning, and I am not impressed.
I hold similar opinions about the navigation and layout as Dolus.
It looks like a backward step to me.

November 26, 2008 at 16:28 #192289Its slower loading with all the fancy new graphics.
You have to click on each meeting now for quick results.
The odds comparision is fractional odds only.
The form popup is slower to open and is difficult to read with too many shades of grey.
Actually they have too much light grey on light grey.
Navigating around the different races is cumbersome.I do the like the overall cleaner look and the live reporter but they’ll have to make it faster and easier to navigate. I’ll be sticking with their betting site which is generally excellent imo.

I would agree that pages are now far too crowded and that the love affair with shades of grey is detrimental to the site’s overall appearance, but there is at least an arrow to the right of the racecourse (when a racecard has been selected) which allows you to choose from all of the races being run that day.
It bemuses me when people think it necessary to fix what isn’t broken and in doing so take an undeniable step backwards. Poor show, RP.

One word: "Beta".
In fact, I’d suggest you let them know of those bits ‘n’ bobs you are concerned about because "Beta" means they are still working on the site, and can improve it with your guidance.
