Well, well, well, just managed to automate the download of the RP cards

Will it still work tomorrow
December 4, 2008 at 03:20 #194179What happened to the Nap’s Table, they seem to have wrecked it.

Kevin, please advise if you have any continued joy here. I used to automatically download the cards on the old site and its not the same without them.
I cant get my head round the new one at all
December 4, 2008 at 12:45 #194224It’s going from bad to worse.
Thay have removed the need to log in due to technical difficulties but now the only areas available are those to non members.
December 4, 2008 at 13:03 #194227I haven’t had the pleasure of the new RP site yet, but thought the old one was almost spot on, without being too flashy.
I wanted to put in a good word for the At The Races site, which is the one I’m using more & more. I think they deserve credit for trying to be very innovative with their cards & info, you can access things like head-to-head details & draw stats very easily.
I’ll accept their database is maybe not as functional & detailed as the RP, but most of the info is there, just not in the format we’re familar with.
December 4, 2008 at 13:09 #194229Thanks for that.
I hadn’t realised the ATR site was so good (never looked at it before).

One thing I noticed on the ATR racecards is that each runner summary is similar in style to the on course racecard. I suspect they may come from the same source.

December 4, 2008 at 18:08 #194285Still don’t like it, but is running better on Google Chrome for me, thanks for the advice.
December 4, 2008 at 19:27 #194313I sent an email this morning asking where do I look for sales information concerning foals by stallion gigures (only yearlings available or all I could find). Received this in response:

December 4, 2008 at 19:30 #194314I only use to log on to look at trainer form and entries.
Can a kind hearted sole post a link on here to the sporting life here so I can see Jonathan Geakes entries – my work has all gambling sites blocked but the rp one use to be okay via the back door striaght to the Geake page. Just got myself into trouble as only the executives in local government are allowed version 7 of Explorer so they didn’t take to kindly to me trying to download it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

the very thought that the plebs might want up to date software on their computers, eh?
December 4, 2008 at 22:05 #194376Still the dead parrot release I see.
I tried a replay of one of the Wincanton races but it appreared to be in slo-mo mode. As a control, I replayed an American race on the bloodhorse site – no problems at all.
This is the sort of rubbish you get when you team up feeble project management and incompetent technical staff.
It’s not much better than The Sportsman site (remember that?!). Maybe they’re using the same people!
December 5, 2008 at 03:28 #194456The main problem for me is that they have put too much on the racecards so now it takes an age to load. They should have had some beta testing on the website.
December 5, 2008 at 03:40 #194468They did!

Apart from a few probs accessing the site the download seemed to work today. However, I’m not holding my breath – its still early days!

December 5, 2008 at 03:54 #194478Does anyone know how to get to early closing races now? I’m probably being stupid but I just can’t see how to do it….
