I’ve also experienced a lot of aggravation trying to log on etc. They have now put a message on there regarding this issue…..
"We would like to apologise to customers who have been having trouble logging into racingpost.com.
The Racing Post IT team are working on this issue and hope to resolve the technical problems in the near future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding."
December 3, 2008 at 18:28 #194091Used Google Chrome, which is pretty quick to look at some Racing Post TV.
Chose the Tingle Creek preview.
It would run for a few minutes, I’d get the crop circle, and back to the beginning to Alistair Down in the parade ring at Sandown saying in Groundhog Day fashion "The Tingle Creek- what’s it all about".
After 6 attempts, and the wife having removed all nearby sharp objects, I gave up.
On an aside, I’d have made Al Down 10-1 to be the best turned out in the paddock, even though he was on his own….
December 3, 2008 at 19:17 #194101Has anyone tried clicking on each header in the race-cards to sort the card in various ways – eg by official rating, by weight, by saddle-cloth number?
When I saw that you could do that, I thought it was a good idea.
But, but, but…
That shuffle effect is a complete waste of time AND computer resources. It’s done using javascript I assume, but the shuffle thingy looks like the bright idea of a speccy-eyed computer boffin who’s never looked at a racecard in his life. Yep, it will look good if it works well and immediately, but on my computer it took about five minutes to re-sort the entries for one single race.
What a complete balls-up!
December 3, 2008 at 20:01 #194111One significant change I’ve found is trainer and jockey stats. On the old site, trainer stats showed results for hurdles, chases and bumpers as separate categories and you could analyse by month, by jockey and by course.
At present, the new site just gives the basic numbers and that’s it.
December 3, 2008 at 20:53 #194115Like the two posters above, I also had problems with accessing stats for trainers. However, I stumbled on the answer – I think.
When you click on the trainer’s name you get the yearly stats. However if you scroll down the screen you’ll see three other headings. The last of these headings is statistics. There’s no clue that this is a clickable tab but it is. Click on the ‘statistics’ and you then get the option for month, jockey, course etc.
Shambolic!
December 3, 2008 at 21:29 #194122I’ve come across a problem with the site which I suspect may be down to my ignorance rather than the Post.
I access the site via Firefox, and currently it is loading all right. I then click on "result" for one of today’s races and the details pop up in a new window. But I cannot see a way to print out what is displayed in that window. Probably I’m missing something obvious, and would be grateful to be told how to do it.
December 3, 2008 at 21:30 #194123Try "Ctrl-P"
December 3, 2008 at 21:40 #194132George, I believe that we can no longer print the result as we could on the old website. This I imagine is an attempt to ensure we pay for their results printout (which we can’t at the moment, even if we wanted to, as the wallets are not available). I think it’s 20p but don’t know if that is for a single race or the whole meeting.
The only other way which may work (it used too) is to copy and paste the results (window) into Word. But, it’s a bit of messing about.
So, I don’t think it is a Firefox issue.
December 3, 2008 at 21:50 #194140George, if what I think above is true – they want us to pay and both of us are not missing something in our ignorance – I’ve found a way round it.
When the results window opens – click the star in the right hand corner to bookmark the page. Then go to Bookmarks – Recently Bookmarked – and it should be listed as Results Home – click on this to open in a new tab and Print.
It’s a bit of messing about but it’s free

Edit: Sorry George may have misunderstood you (you may not be a tight arse like me
)If you want to pay for a printout (which we can’t at the moment) click on:
Full Meeting Information and then Print-Outs – this we’ll give you the usual options.December 3, 2008 at 21:52 #194141One significant change I’ve found is trainer and jockey stats. Alan,
Been looking at this too – can it not be done using the little red arrow…..if you click on a trainer and then down the bottom of the page ‘statistics’ and then under ‘filter results’…….
Clutching at straws, but I think it works.

Both your suggestions work fine. Thank you very much.
December 3, 2008 at 22:01 #194145Smithy and Reason over faith,
Thanks for the info. It’s another example of making things more complicated if that’s how it’s supposed to work.
I’m trying not to complain too much as I’m well aware that at my age, one has to be careful not to dismiss all change as wrong, but I think I’ll go to Wincanton tomorrow rather than sit here fuming!
December 3, 2008 at 22:03 #194146In this instance, it isn’t you being a dinosaur! I am fairly sure of that!
December 3, 2008 at 23:18 #194156Fuming here, can’t watch the RUK live stream, which I’m paying for. Absolutely ridiculous. Stupid links to WillHill and Mick Fitz bleedin’ book clogging up the screen too. This is a sham and I’m getting angrier by the minute.

George,
The way I personally would get around this problem would be to press the Windows key (Start) on your keyboard while simultaneously pressing the PrintScreen key.If you have a graphics application (such as Photoshop) installed on you PC import the contents from the clipboard and save as a jpeg.

Thanks very much. It seems there are several ways of achieving what I want to do.
December 4, 2008 at 01:22 #194167Anyone having any joy with the news archive?
Can’t seem to get anything on there and if you search for stuff from over a year it says you’ll get too many results and are asked to search a smaller date range.
I would like to see the old cuttings library back as well as the facility to check the meets 30 days in advance.
Now we just have the calendar so can only see one day at a time. - AuthorPosts
